Anyone familiar with the Pitching for Success program offered through The Epicenter? Would you consider it worthwhile for a rising 10th grader?

    Any input is appreciated.

    it depends

IMO, if u have an expectation it will make your son a pro, college or even HS prospect I wouldn't do it.

If, on the other hand, your son wants to be the best he can be and you have the $ to give your son an opportunity to improve, the EpiCenter knows what it is doing. Pitching durability (length of a career) has a lot to do with God given ability, but it also has a lot to do with mechanics. Since they have treated/rehabed a ton of pitching related injuries they have the expertise to teach mechanics that can help move a player to his next level and get the most out of his basic ability. But if the player lacks the motivation to take what he's learned and apply it as a matter of habit... then it's prob not worth it.

I also think the 14-16 yr old window is a critical period for establishing fundamental skills that will carry the player into the period when they mature and compete at the varsity level and beyond. Most are starting to grow and that growth can be ackward when the mind and body are out of sync. If the proper fundamental skills aren't being focused on (forget the results, they don't really matter) bad habits can easily develop and lead to injury or performance that is disappointing in their varsity years (when it does matter).
