    Another funny Greg Chance story!!

Last year at Olympic HS, Greg was behind the plate for a Butler/Prov tourney game. Alot of foul balls were being hit and folks were taking their time returning them. Around the fourth inning Greg ran out of baseballs. He was getting frustrated with this and quickly turned to the crowd and said "he cannot continue the game because he has no balls!" Immediately he realized what he said and almost fell to the ground laughing although he was trying to remain professional!! That comment and his reaction lightened everyone.

I do agree Braves, he is one the best we have!!

    Sugarjet,

Your post here which I have quoted in its entirety, is absolutely the best philosophy of life I have ever read from an 18 year-old. In a world of me first attitudes, and that's just the adults, you understand what life is about. It's OK to not like losing, but tomorrow is a fresh start and that game you lost or the bad call the ump made just doesn't matter anymore. What matters is where you go from that loss and and to know your life doesn't have to revolve around who did what at whatever point in time. Thank you for a refreshing outlook, now if the parents will read it and say, "hmmm, this kid has it going on and I will do well to heed what he has to say."

My thoughts exactly! To bad that Greg Chance and Jim Escher was NOT at the 5/6 South Meck/Providence @ Providence game as well. The home plate umpire that night let that game get completely out of hand as well with a lot of bad calls from behind the plate coupled with the incident when a Providence player made an illegal slide in to home plate that badly injured the South Meck catcher and the runner was NOT penalized whatsoever...not even a warning?!? It is my understanding that one of the duties of a good umpire is to protect the safety of the players at all times and reprimand those players that do NOT abide by those safety rules along with their coaches?!?

In fact, before this post began, the very next time that I saw Chance and Escher after the South Meck/Providence 5/6 game, the minute that I saw them I said, "Guys, where were you last week @ Providence when we needed you!!!"

    Sugarjet,

I remember back when you and my son were 9 & 10 and you both let your “competitive fire” get the best of you. I don’t say this to dredge up past bad behavior, but to put into context the type of kid you’ve become. It didn't happen by accident. I know from experience how hard it can be to mold a young athlete into a nice young man. You‘re a credit to your parents. Their efforts are what will be left when your playing days are over, which I hope will not be for a very long time.

In a game that was intense, competitive and fiery(Indy/NM)..Jim Escher did a marvelous job keeping everyone in control and did a fine job behind the plate.

I may "assist" him at times...and I'm not sure how he knows it's me, but I want to congratulate Jim for his professionalism and another fine job!!! :applause:...one of the best in the business

I had my suspicions that you were a cry baby and I finally found the proof. Shame on you begging for strikes 4 years ago!!!!
