    A4 Shelby, long winning streak
A3 Rowan, crushing every pitcher they run into
A4 Cherryville , is always Cherryville
A3 High Point, trying to make a statement

    The East teams

They were weak last year at the State Tourament, no Wayne County this year. Is Wilmington coming back?

Does the East have a surprise for the West?

my guess would be watch out for cary. they beat a very good durham team that had several d1 signees. I know durham hurt a little losing blaze tart to the boston redsox but still watch out for cary. if wilmington gets there watch out also, they always have good talent.

The 2 far westerners (Shelby and Cherryville) may be one full notch ahead of the rest, looking at the overall picture of talent, coaching and experience.

I would not count Rowan out in the West. There is talent on that team.

A coach can really make a difference in baseball, in most cases costing you a run here or there,,,, but in Rowan's case, Coach Gantt definitely is one of the best in the business and he gives them an edge. Another sign of coaching is whether or not a team improves as the season progresses, and Rowan DOES get better every year as the summer goes along. However, while Rowan is very talented, I'm just not sure about their big game pitching, Shive had surgery in the winter, and he's not really been consistent, and as good as he can be, he hasn't went long innings much.

But I agree, Rowan can make the final 3-4 with no problem, and on a given day they could win it all.

Shive has been pretty dominate lately. He really has had only 1 bad outing. It has definately taken him longer than expected to recover from surgery, but he is dominant right now. A lot of the time he pitches he doesn't go longer than 7 because Rowan ends the game early. I think their pitching, while not overwhelming after Shive, is very deep and good enough to carry them a long way. Preston Troutman is their #7 or 8 guy which is pretty remarkable.

The thing about Rowan is that they can flat out hit. If you hold them under 10 you have accomplished a major feat. In a double elimination format, I have always thought the best hitting team has an advantage once pitching starts wearing thin. Rowan can also throw Trey Holmes, Ethan Fisher, John Crucitti if times get really thin.

Should be interesting. I really like this team.

Not sure, they are around 48 right now and 50 some is the record with games to go. I`ll find the correct numbers later and post. Rowan has never been a big power hitting team. Just a team with solid hitting all up and down the line up. The record was set in 1989.

Final Rowan County 9 Randolph County 4

Rowan moves to Area 3 champion round monday night against
    Mooresville, High Point winner

Wilmington is back from last years state tournament. Did they have a young team? Alot of state championships were won by Post 10.
