when accepting a scholarship and or wantring to walk on to play baseball at the next level NEVER EVER forget to remind yourself you are there to get an education!!!!! Certainly the coach, tradition, & program is important yet consideration of how good and what kind of tradition it has should be a relatively minor concern! Youngsters and even many parents do not understand that at the collegiate level ALLLLLLL the competition is very very good (ala the creme de la creme of the HS crop) and don t run away from a school that offers you the best academic (environment and offerings) WORLD!
P.S. For those of you who might not agree? You might need to START thinking about your son's if not your daughter's future beyond the game...

Excellent point and a good time to remind everyone about this again. As many have said when determining what school to go to...select the school that you are most comfortable in whether you are playing baseball or not. One never knows what one's athletic future may be...if things don't work out athletically, at least you are getting a great education at the school you are most comfortable with.

    Take a look...

at the current records of the schools in NC at the "next level" pretty much all very good schools here in NC YES with some better reputations than others both academically and athletically YET they are doing some SERRIOOUUUUUSSSS beating up on one another as is the case every season! Couldn' think of any reason not to play for any of them exept perhaps State hehehehehhehehheeeeeeeeeeeee.......

Yep.....education has got to be on the front burner. Parents, when looking at schools, spend a lot of time looking at the academic support given to the players by the schools. Some do a better job than others, but this is soooo important. College academics & sports are a world away from high school. The work load your son or daughter carried in HS when playing sports, is nothing compared to the commitments expected at the college level. They need to come out of first semester the a pretty good GPA, because it will drop in the spring. The athletic academic advisor is just as important to your player as the coaching staff.
