All I will add to this jabber is that when an umpire says he can't see the pitch because of the catcher "bouncind around"... something is wrong.

if caldwell is so bad why do you not hear all this stuff from other teams they play? you should be hearing every game. there is always going to be one or two little snipes at each other but with garner the whole game is drama from start to finish and one thing for sure you are not going to see caldwell players or fans backdown when this stuff starts.we all know who the teams are that are on the brink of a fight at any moment. their supporters and fans like it that way i think it makes them feel tough. just my opinion you are welcome to yours. have a nice long rest of the summer garner and thanks for giving us caldwell fans another wonderful rivalry cause it feels so good when we kick your butt.

    UMPIRE'S JOB

I will agree with that, it is an umpire's job to position and see the plate. An umpire should never admit he is unable to do his job!

Braves, thanks for the kind words. But I too have thoroughly enjoyed this past 4-5 days at the state tournament, seeing all these TBR posters (yourself, Boxman, KtownYankee, Wossa) and finally meeting Dbacks20, DownSouth and VillageIdiot. It was also great to see BravesJr. once again, wish him well in school.

As for the tournament, I thought the crowds were great. A tournament official told me yesterday that they counted 900 fans entered the stadium for the Kannapolis/Caldwell game the other night. Furthermore I thought both crowds were loud, into the game obviously but well-behaved too.

    Enjoyed it...

TBA & others: I'm an ex-college ump who called at the highest levels, & I'll add this thought...If the catcher is raising up, the pitcher will not get the low outside corner, especially on a breaking ball.

That's true of all officials. You can't call what you can't see. The receiver's job is to frame the pitch. So while I do not endorse admitting that to a player or coach, this alone is not a sign of a weak umpire. A substantial portion of the blame goes to the coach & catcher who don't understand their job in buying calls.

Congratulations to Kannapolis on representing Area 3 so well. I dubbed them my favorite to win the title. Close but no cigar. Appears that Caldwell's day has arrived again.

Tj21, I was really impressed with your hard work and dedication to your Post 501 Kannapolis Wojans this year. You and many other volunteers and sponsors have helped this program be such a success the past few years (not to mention the many talented players and coaches). Props also to Missy Craft, the PA announcer, who kept everyone thoroughly entertained, especially when a player got hit with a pitch: ("The human ball-magnet [Jerrod Faggart] goes to first", "Bean got beaned"). :bananalam Missy's pre-game introductions when the Wojans run to their positions was pretty cool too.

Last but not least to the folks in the concession stand --- those are, bar none, the best hot dogs in the state! (all-the-way means everything but ketchup) :cucumber:

    Thanks again,
    NPC Fanatic

ps - The lighting was pretty good too. :satana:
