question for someone??? we have the potential for a three way tie in our conference, all with one loss to one of the other two teams. we've heard many different factors for deciding the conference champs. should this occur, how would the winner be determined??

They will all be conf. champs but they would pull out of a hat to see which team would get 1st 2nd and 3rd seed out of conferance for playoff seedings. If your conf. only has two spots going to the playoffs then somebody that is co-champs will be at home sulking.:newsmile33:

With the split playoff system you won't see a team that is in that position sitting at home.

Could be a few con.'s like that. In the Big South, if Crest beats East Gaston and South Point, East Gaston beats Forestview, and Hunter Huss beats Ashbrook, you have a 3 way tie. Huss with a win over Crest, Crest with a win over East Gaston, East Gaston with a win over Huss. Co-Champs for 2006. Huss would get the top 3A seed from the con. and Crest would get the top 4A with their win over East Gaston.

In another con. if Davie County beats West Forsyth you have another situation of Tabor beat Davie, Forsyth beat Tabor, Davie beat Forsyth.
This con. would depend on who's big 4A and small 4A. I think the same thing happened last year and they had to draw.

    Sure is wild out there.

    Example from last year

    Catawba Valley Atheltic Conference

Maiden, Newton-Conover and Hickory all tied for the title. Maiden and Newton-Conover are 2-a schools, Hickory a 3-a. They pulled out of a hat with Newton-Conover getting 1, Maiden #2 and Hickory #3. N-C was the #1 seed from the conference in the 2-a class, Maiden #2, but Hickory was the #3 seed in the 3-a. I think they have changed this rule to give split conferences their own #1 seed. In this case, Hickory would be a 1 seed from the conference in the 3-a class.

For one of those teams a three way tie will suck.

Whichever team gets the third straw could send up with no home playoff games and a very low seed. A second place team can still get a decent seed but a third place team can end up one and done if they draw a tough first tound opponenent. But at least they do get in with the 64 team brackets.

Lots of one loss third place teams used to sit home.

little different here, we have one 3A team and two 4A teams in this tie. 3A team will retain #1 seed no matter what, but one of the 4A teams is gonna be crying. all three will go to state playoffs due to record, but loss of homefield advantage due to toss kinda sucks. gotta be a better way.

Think about the high ranked team that will have to play the #3 team in this conference. If the best of the 3 teams gets seeded third, then the team that they play in round one who deserved to have a weaker opponent gets screwed. Even if they win, that higher seeded team has earned the right not to have to play a tough opponent in Rd 1.
