I saw almost all the second. South scored four in the ninth on a grand slam (didn't catch who) for the win. David Coffey got the start for High Point. Pitched well over seven, striking out twelve and left with an 8-4 lead. High Poit gave up two in the eighth then the four spot in the ninth. Mike Whited was 2-4 with a three run home run and an RBI double for High Point.

all in all a good day for baseball despite all the rain. Somehow I managed to get in three games today. A 9-10 JYL game, a PONY league game and the legion game. I'm tired and all I did was watch.

Western Forsyth Post 522 vs Burlington Post 63

The Senior Team defeated Burlington 9 to 4 to open their season at Titan Stadium. The game began with the American Legion Rifle Squad under commander Tom Ehlers presenting the Flags and performing the National Anthem. Senior Post 522 got a great pitching performance from Ben Currie who threw 8 innings giving up 2 earned runs. Trey Vestal threw a scoreless 9th. At the plate Senior Post 522 was led by Josh Clark who was 4-5 with three doubles. Andrew Key finished with three hits on the night. Senior Post 522 finished with 12 hits in their 9-4 win over Burlington Post 63. Next game is Sunday against Statesville at home at 4pm.

In a rain shortened game (7inn), Durham comes away with the win on opening day behind a solid performance by Dusty Tatum (1-0) on the mound. DJ Thomas added 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Western Senior Post 522 defeated Statesville Post 65 by the score 14-3 in seven innings. Jacob Russell started the game on the mound and pitched three innings earning the win. Dylan Pfingst, Robert Deluca, and Trey Vestal combined to pitch the last four innings. At the plate Post 522 was led by Andrew Key's 3-4 performance. Austin Blake was 2-4 with two RBI's while Jonathan Holt had one hit and four RBI's. JT Tuttle and Deluca both hit two run home runs on the day. Senior Post 522 will be back in action Wednesday night at 7pm at West Forsyth HS verse Surry County.
