last week, the team forgot to bring the bat donuts, so they just swung him in the on-deck circle. worked OK but he got really dizzy and wound up throwing up four or five times.

    in the mountains...

My boy got his third appearance in five games pinch running in the 7th as Franklin went on to beat Smoky Mountain 22-10 and move to 5 and 0 on the season. Interesting fact the Panthers have 16 dingers to date if I am not mistaken!!! Anyhow, proud as a Dad could be seeing my boy get in "the mix" and turning into a fine quality young man!

Tonight my son hit his first ever homerun. It was a grandslam on a 3-2 count with 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning with his team down 9 to 6 in a big conference game. May have been his best ever at bat. He fouled off 5 pitches after the count was 3-2 before he hit it out. Most importantly, his team held on to win the game. He struggled on the mound but was able to shake that off to help out on offense. Lots of his teammates contributed big to the win.

Boy, that sounded exciting! Grand Slam to take the lead in the seventh inning! One of the best feelings in the world is to be sitting amongst all the fans & parents and your son comes thru like that. (It's like Christmas in March!)

Some people get accused of "living through their son" and some cases that may be true, but I have found the vast majority of parents "live' for those occasions experienced by n2allsports. It's the memories that will never be forgotten and can share with their son forever.

Braves.... I agree.. the kind of psycho bable represented by the statement "living thru their son" usually comes out of the mouths of those who are insecure about themselves and the accomplishments of their own issue!

An exciting day at the ballfield...

Can I report from the next level??

Today my son.....hit 3 homeruns in the second game of a double header, in 3 consecutive at-bats, with the last HR a walk-off to help the team win 11-1 by mercy rule, against the conference leaders.

What a great day at the ballfield!!

Not so much today but this year my son has re-discovered his love for the game. I haven't seen it since 8th grade. He's confident, having tons of fun, no longer beats himself up over a passed ball or a stolen base. It's fun to watch him play relaxed and confident.

Friday night he hit a 3 run HR in the 1st. his 2nd of the year, and got to pitch a little, something he hasn't done in two years.

But the biggest gift of all this year is his little brother (although he is 6'3" freshman) is on the team with him and DH's. They get to ride the bus together, sit in the dugout together, team meals together, warm up together, practice together, everything you can imagine. They are very close to each other. It's hitting my youngest son hard that his older brother and best friend will be leaving for University of Richmond soon. Being able to spend a baseball season together is like a gift from God. All the achievements on the field cannot measure up to the time they are having together being on the same team for the first time in their lives. It truly is a special gift.
