Looks like Brown had enough of the politics. Hate to see him go out like this. He deserves better. Reminds me of the David Elder/Hickory fiasco a few years back. Both deserve to go out in better fashions.

 

This is amazing. You better believe that folks in the Maiden community will remember this come election time.

 

Sad Day....

Maiden is going to miss Coach Brown.....that was a surprise.
I'd hate to follow in those footsteps....I was a big fan. Hate to see him gone.

 

When I saw this story this morning in the Hickory Daily Record I kept thinking that there is something that we don't know about. I know that Brown can be a bit of a trial at times but Wow!!! It will be very interesting indeed to see who follows a coaching legend.

 

Any idea on who else appllied for the job?


Mike Helms maybe? Just a shot in the dark, I haven't any info on that. Just throwing it out there.

 

Maiden Football

Here is a link to the page of the BOE. Get a good look at the losers that have ripped the hearts out of the kids at Maiden and put a knife in the back of Coach Brown after he had done everything that was asked of him to do with his retirement so that he could come back as the coach. I hope that everyone will fill up their email boxes with messages about their despicable act. I like how they go in hiding and will not comment or return calls to answer and explain what they have done. You are just like little kids that have done wrong and know it; and run and hide and hope that it will go away. It will not go away Markley. Shame on all of you for allowing this to happen. Your conscious will get the best of you I hope.

Common Sense

I think this little truth can be said and used for the Catawba County Board of Education.



OBITUARY OF THE LATE MR COMMON SENSE
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has
Been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was,
Since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain
Why the early bird gets the worm
Life isn't always fair
Maybe it was my fault
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies:
Don't spend more than you can earn
And reliable strategies:
Adults , not children, are in charge
His health began to deteriorate when parents attacked teachers for doing the
Job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly
Children. It declined even further when schools were required to get
Parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion or a band-aid to a
Student but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and
Wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
Contraband, churches became businesses and criminals received better
Treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when it became punishable for you to defend
Yourself from a burglar in your own home but the burglar could sue you for
Assault.
He began to lose ground rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing
Regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6 -year- old boy charged with
Sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for
Using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly
Student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to
Realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her
Lap and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his
Wife, Discretion; his Daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To
Blame, and I'm A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

 

End of an Era...

I feel your pain, brother....
"Maiden Football" will be strange/odd without Coach Brown. I wish my kid could've played for him.....and that's about as big a compliment as a dad can give a coach!

 

Coach, you will be missed. I always enjoyed talking to you when I came to the old softball field and you was the gate keeper. Hope to see ya around in the future.

 

Similar to what happened with the girls basketball job at McDowell around this time last year.
