hmmmm........coach of that team maybe?? or just friends with him?? or someone who is guilty of the same tactics?? How do you know nothing was said to the coach about it?.....the girls had parents on the scene, and that's what they are there for. We are discussing the "potential" for harm, and if that offends you, then I have to ponder you motives and character. So shame on you for bashing others who are attempting to "fix a bad situation" by bringing it to light so it might not happen again. Just my 1 cents worth bubba.

Nothing personal meant (that is why no names posted) but just trying to inform pareants just because someone calls them selves a coach don't make them one. More to coaching than just teaching the game. Some care more about looking maucho in front of everyone than they do about helping the girls. Probablly the case in the girls running in the heat. Wrong place, wrong time!

Not to be a "Rabble Rouser"

Posting this thread was quite hard for me to do. I have been a member of TBR for a while and just watch from time to time.
Please understand, and those of you who know me , will - that I did not put this up to stir up anything, And I certainly don't intend to slander anyone. The gossip crap that goes on? - no time for it here!!! And, I have never second guessed a coach, volleyed for play time, or been involved with any of that, my philosophy is that "the cream will rise to the top". It is what it is.

My hope and intention was and is to try and get this into a public forum to create discussion and awareness so as to possibly help make a bad situation better in the future.

Based on all the PM's and emails, perhaps that has been done.

As to those who think that we should have jumped in right there, believe me, had I saw one girl go down, there would have been 10 of us out there, but we would have had to beat their parents to the field. I believe based on what the parents were saying that if it went on a few minutes longer, they would have certainly done something - at least a few of them.

Bottom line is, that although it may have been the parents responsibility to do something, for some reason they felt they couldn't or shouldn't. I can't help but wonder why. Inexperience? Intimidation? Belief that is was doing some good? whatever.

Can of worms? I certainly can't enjoy THAT - but some do. Let's hope that this type of open communication will achieve it's intent.
For the good of the players, for the good of the game, for the good of all the dedicated, hard working coaches and staff's that do this for all the right reasons and never get enough of the credit they deserve.

But mostly for the dreams of a teenager to be realized, whatever they may be - safely.

i believe that some of the delay in action had to be attributed to believing in the coach. most parents dont want to interfere with the coaching decisions, and are willing to sit back and see where it goes. this sounds like it went a bit too far, perhaps to the point of the coach losing face among many of the parents due to his/her actions on the field that day. it will work itself out, believe me. wonder how many are currently looking for new teams as we speak?

you might just be surprised as to how much information is gleened by parents/players off of this forum. this is softball central for many people in our area, and things like this need to occassionally be discussed. parents need to know what to be on the lookout for, on any potential team.
