Really would like to know which players are on Varsity this year

    I'll start it off

    Chase Austin
    South Mecklenburg, Charlotte
    3rd base

'06 Starter on the varsity team. Hit a grandslam in his first varsity game

A real gamer...never gets nervous. History of the bigger the game, the more he produces. Watch this kid's progress..he is one of the most talented in the Charlotte area.

    Zeke Blanton
    Freshman (2007)

Runs 7.1 60. Starting for defending 2A champs in LF along with 7 seniors, batting seventh. Went 4-7 in first two varsity games.

    Josh Thrailkill
    Sophomore (2006)
    TC Roberson
    RHP/IF
    6'3" /175 lbs

Thrailkill was all conference and 2nd team All Western North Carolina as a freshman at Roberson. Just back from varsity basketball, he threw three perfect innings today in Roberson's 9-2 win over #2 (1A) Swain County striking out eight of the nine batters he faced.

    Justin Jackson
    Freshman (2007)
    TC Roberson
    SS

Justin has started at SS in Roberson's first two games this season. In wins over AC Reynolds and Swain County, Justin is 4 for 5 with a double and triple. He has great range and arm strength, with unlimited potential.

I don't mean to sound argumentative, but the best 07's and 06's aren't necessarily playing varsity as you infer in this thread. :xyzthumbs
Sometimes playing varsity as a frosh or soph has more to do with strength of other spring sports, school size, strength of youth programs, coaching philosophy,injuries...and on and on.
The bottom line is that there are 4A JV teams out there that can beat many 1A and 2A Varsity squads.

I am sure you are correct in some instances 007, but personally I think Josh Thrailkill could pitch today against many D1 teams and win. Watching him pitch yesterday was great. He just came back from basketball 2 days ago and was lights out! This kid is the real deal. I may not know much, but he is the best looking soph pitcher I have EVER seen, and I think I would say he is the best HS pitcher THAT I have ever seen.

Justin Jackson is another real deal. He has soft hands and GREAT footwork. Add a plus bat (he has been hitting off the fences and finding holes with hard hit line drives you wouldn't believe) and you have a freshman who is making a difference on varsity today. I doubt there is a HS team in the country that wouldn't have him starting at SS, and he just turned 15!

Some kids get breaks, some get cr*pped on, but you can't deny TALENT.

    02^04 Mom ....
I gotta agree with you. I've seen both Josh and Justin .... these guys would start for any 4A team in the state. Josh has a great arm.

    At North Meck on Varsity:
    Robert Proffitt '06
Catcher, Starting catcher for Varsity since his freshman year.

    Zack Pou, '06
Outfield, Excellent bat and speed in the OF. Has a bright future.

Hopewell has some very promising young sophomores on Varsity this season. It's hard to predict how much P.T. they will get since Hopewell is loaded with quality seniors/juniors also.

Hopewell is going to be top-notch this season.

    Matt Cochran '06
Catcher... I first saw him when he was in the 7th grade. He has a great baseball build. Good arm. Dan Woodall and Brant Jenson will probably split the catching chores.

    Matt Futrell '06
IF/P ... He shows a lot of promise but will probably be a backup this season.

    Andrew Oliver '06
P/OF ... He can also catch for you. He has good speed and may see some P.T. right away.

Three 06s are on the Myers Park varsity Jack Myers (CF), Josh Barker (OF,P) and Ryan Rockecharlie (P,1B).

    One is starting:

    Name: Jack Myers
    School: Myers Park
    Position: Centerfield
Projection: This kid is the real deal. He will surprise people this year because he is a sleeper, not playing on a year-round program because he is a three-sport guy. But nothing will fall in centerfield against Myers Park this year. Myers plays football, basketball and baseball. His older brother plays tennis at NCSU, his older sisters starred at MP in tennis and soccer, and his mom is a professional raquetball player. Myers has speed, makes good contact at the plate, can hit with power and has a great arm -- he has the potential to be a five tool player -- I hope he decides to focus on baseball.

Heard that Chris has recovered well from his elbow surgery Mudcat. He's made it to the 40-man roster at STL. Maybe he'll stick this season.
