    Top 10 "3A" Poll....

ImpactBB, I agree with your 3A poll. Last week I saw someone's poll which included Piedmont and did NOT include West Rowan. Piedmont is not a "Top 10" team, but West Rowan most certainly is.

One last thing, don't be surprised if Northwest Cabarrus beats West Rowan tomorrow, NW has already beaten WR once this season. Those 2 teams are almost even...

I'm familiar with all the teams except Orange. Can you provide some information about them?

    wanksta 50 -

Private Schools - It is pretty obvious who the top private school is in North Carolina. I have seen Charlotte Christian twice now this season.

I have seen Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons twice now. They look to be a solid club. I have seen them compete with two 4A programs.

I would not feel comfortable ranking the top 5 or 10 private schools at this moment. That's why we have not done much with the rankings since the preseason at ImpactBaseball.com.

Waccamaw Academy and Kerr Vance Academy are always solid clubs with excellent coaches.

    Barves -

Hillsbourgh Orange is legit. They are 13-2 now and have yet to pitch East Carolina signee Brett Braxton (upper 80's RHP) to my knowledge

These guys swing the stick. The won the "Hilltop Invitational" earlier this year ten running all of their opponents.

They are well coached under Dean Dease and play on one of the finest facilities in North Carolina.

The club is loaded with left-handed sticks in Josh Horton, Brett and Bryan Braxton, Josh Austin and company. The Panthers also have a terrific middle guy in Daniel Hargrave.

You can find a few of their stats on www.ImpactBaseball.com in the stats article from 4.27.03.

This club simply "gets after it" on the field. Right now Orange pitching seems to be led by lefty Matt Wingo. He's an upper 70's guy with a little "Uncle Charlie."

Dease's guys throw strikes, they play good defense, they hit as a team and they play their butts off.

Go watch these guys take a round of pre-game...

I had Orange ranked #10 in the 2003 Impact Baseball Preseason Polls.

On a side note: To me high school baseball has so much to do with coaching. I've seen so many "average" high school teams beat up on more talented/deeper teams due to good coaching and better "tested" and instructed players.

If you get a field general type coach who will work his guys and make sure they are doing the right things, his club is going to win a lot of ball games. I could type up endless numbers of examples of this kind of thing.

    Just some thoughts...

    IMPACT....

My question is, baseball being the year round sport that it is now, what influence do you believe the summer / fall team coaches have on the development of the players? This would be compared to the high school coaches role of working with the players from Feb through April?

If you have time would you expand upon your quote and give us a few examples?
