I have not heard much on the Carter kid.

It's because it's a bit misleading .... The Carter kid attends a private school up in Chesapeake Virginia.

 

The published list is expanded in the subscription part of Baseball America's recent edition of Prospects Plus, and there it lists the top 500 players according to BA, and commitments as of the date of the release (Nov. 10). 228 of the 500 had committed, and several schools had done extremely well -- Arizona State with 4 top 50 guys, LSU and Miami with 3 top 50s and, get this, Vanderbilt with 3 top 50s and 7 of the top 180. Coach Corbin is getting it done there! Of course, several of the players will never set foot on campus.

Back to the subject, there are 10 more NC players rated by BA from 101 to 500. They are Kyle Musselman (RHP, 6-1, 200, Hoggard HS); Adam Warren (RHP, 6- 0, 180, New Bern HS); Tyler Leach (RHP, 6-3, 190, Kings Mountain HS); Matt Holt (SS, 6-2, 155, Green Hope HS); Jonathon Ratledge (OF, 6-2, 180, South Meck HS); Greg Miclat (SS, 5-10, 165, JM Robinson HS); Tom Porter (RHP, 6-1, 180, North Meck HS); Garrett Bullock (LHP, 6-3, 195, JH Rose HS); Wes Wrenn (RHP/IF, 5-11, 185, Wesleyan Christian Academy); and TJ Worrell (RHP, 6-6, 185, South Meck HS). Congrats to all those guys.

Many other deserving NC players were left off the list -- four who come to mind immediately for me are Zach Rosenbaum and Mike Cavasini of North Meck and Drew Martin and Michael Bogaert of Gastonia Ashbrook. I'm sure you guys would add others to that list. One thing for sure, there is lots of '05 talent in the Tar Heel state!

 

STRONG RUMOR IS THAT JUSTIN UPTON HAS COMMITTED TO NC STATE..............WE ALL KNOW HE WILL NOT MAKE IT THERE BUT IT MAKES THE WOLFPACKS RECRUITING CLASS HIGHLY RANKED. BY THE TIME THE 17TH ROLLS AROUND THEY COULD END UP WITH 4 OF THE TOP 75 PLAYERS IN THE COUNTRY. THROW IN ERIC SURKAMP(LHP, OHIO), JEREMY SYNAN, AND DREW MARTIN..........ALL OF WHO SHOULD BE HIGHLY REGARDED ALSO AND YOU HAVE A HECK OF A CLASS.

 

Heard last night that Upton has made it official and signed with NC State. :xyzthumbs

This should be a pretty big year in high school baseball. I got the overall feeling that last year was somewhat of a down year. I know 2002 and 2003 were pretty big years.

That is awesome about Upton. What is his national rank? #1?
