How are the Charlotte HS Teams looking for the fast approaching 2004 season. I personally live outside of Charlottle but am fortunate to see a few games yearly and know alot of players/teams but this year it appears ...........parity may have arrived. dawgfan, LBlues1 and others i am sure have some answers to A few questions others and myself would like to know:
Hopewell, defending champs, do they have what it takes to return to the State Champions?
Will Butler have the breakthrough year with some of their talented underclassmen stepping up to fill some voids left to graduation?
Is Myers Park worthy of top 10 in charlotte? What will Providence look like this year with the Small twins going?
Can North Meck finally recover from Hopewell's opening and reestablish its once dominance of char/meck softball?
Will South Meck and Olympic make a run at the conference titles and see the playoffs? Who are some juniors to watch? And finally, who will battle CC for the title and Title of Charlotte's Best Softball team in 2004? I know i missed a few quality teams, so fill us in.

Please feel free to talk about the west rowans, northdavidsons and forbushes outside of charlotte!

Softball is about 60 days away and earlier for some so good luck to all teams, players and coaches and hope all have a great Holiday Season!

I look for CC to be the top dog unless they don't mesh with Sherrill's coaching style. He is a good coach but the girls will have to conform to him and sometimes girls just don't think that way. If he works WITH the girls and they work WITH him no one will touch them.
Next look out for Myers Park. They could have the best pitcher in the state this year in O'conner if she has worked hard during the summer and I know they will have team speed.
Don't see much at Hopewell now and as for the rest I don't know much about them, It's hard to know who is where in Charlotte with this school choice stuff

CC needs sherrill just like sherill needs these players and IMO mesh together well! Favorites no doubt but knowing how O'Connoer works and performs, she will be ready at MP. any hitters with the speed, slap, etc to add to their offensive side?
Thanks for the insight reporter and school softball choice stuff is difficult along with the other issues in CMS!
    Keep us posted!:D

sorry but any word on JMRobinson's squad?

Central Cabarrus is on the Verge.

From a softball by standers view, Central will be tough. Teams better bring their AAAAAAA+++++++ game to beat this squad. Sherrill will not bend on his way of doing things, but Central needs discipline and a little pop in their step. Sherrill is brash and without a doubt the best HS coach around. I watched Alexander play against Butler 2 years ago. I was amazed at the passion AC played with. Actually they raked the field after the loss with more conviction then most teams play with. Central CAbarrus doesn't have a clue what they have yet. This guy brings a aura to the table. Everyone is beatable, but the combo that they have now will be a mighty force. Seems as though, the elements are right for CC to dominate.

Look for CC,Butler ,MP to be at the top of 4A this year. With Sherrill at CC and the returning players CC will tough competion. Eary scrimmages probably will show what some of the teams have this year. Has MP got a coach for this year, heard they had ask former CC coach Hill but she declined. As far as CC accepting the coaching style of Sherrill I don't believe it will be to much from what CC has seen in the past but I'm sure it will be received in a more postive way. Looking forward to the season to start, but to some it never ends. Anyone get a chance check out the field at CC, Sherrill has gotten a lot of improvements going. New dugouts, lights coming, and most important a lot of community, and parent involvement to make this happen. All smiles here :) :) :)

First Myers Park loss Becky Matthews and I heard loss the young lady they expected to take her place. They have no catcher from what I hear but a JV could step up. Their hitting is very suspect and I heard their third baseman may not play. Meredith worked extremely hard all summer and was flat unhittable. However, she can not do it without help from 8 other players. Providence will still be good. They have some young players, Bendig and Mashburn that play year round and will challenge. Butler should still be the team to beat. They have some good returning seniors, several that have already committed to colleges, some good underclassman, and a couple of impact freshman that will certainly give them some fire power. Butler will have great speed! Their pitching should be very good and set for years to come. Watch out for North Meck as they have most kids back, Jessica Inman and Erica Rutledge will be leaders. Hopewell will struggle as most of their kids were seniors. South Meck will surprise a few teams with Brittany Blanton as a leader and if Erin Barton pitches well Olympic, can win a few games. Just a few thoughts, I am sure their are other people in and around Charlotte with better knowledge of the local teams. CC has the talent and the committment to win it all but the best talent does not always win. Amanda Barrs, Allison Presnell, Covington, and Gina, and Beatty are excellent underclassman and of course Haley will contribute. Robinson will be good once again with Tori and Candance leading the way. Piedmont with Amy Ellis and Weddington with Cassie Palmer will win their share.
