I have seen these guys for several years-And they are all PLAYERS! They were soph's last season and played more like seniors. They can and will compete each and every time on the field! I would love to have them on our team!

Add Sam Pierce, P-SS, North Meck to the list. He's been throwing in the high 80's all summer.

    Jr. Prospects

OK I guess its time for a littlle enlightenment.WHERE IS SAM PIERCE ? Kid throws 90+ at Impact Chapel Hill, sets down nine hitters in the Impact "Select" game , OH and by the way, some of the names listed on the "wish list " of Jr. players didn't even make the final selection to the Impact select roster!
Sam started and closed for the Diamond Travelers of SC with a dominating record, including the SC state championship! Please show me a better 'slider'or 'tailing' fastball at least thats what four PRO scouts said about the youngster. When not on the mound Sam has one of the strongest arms on SS,not to mention great range. Come on guys I know somebody out there can back me up!As for the 'wish list'.....all great Jrs. but you should have wished for MORE!

I am not saying anything bad about Sam but I haven't heard a hole lot about him. I played in that impact select game at UNC and I don't remember him hitting 90 because I remember basham hitting 90 and a few people up near there. If he hit 90+ then that is pretty good because he had to throw in one of the 2 previous days in order to make it to that game and his arm had to be a little tired. I played against North Meck last year and didn't hear anything about him. I don't want to take anything away from him but why haven't we heard that much about him.( the son)

I watched him pitch the previous day in the regular showcase games.
    Nothing close to 90 though.

But , he did look pretty good .

I saw him over the summer quite a bit ....

Yep .... he was 88-89 consistently and "bumped" a few in there quite well.....

Independence had 3 good sophomores that I remember from last year. It will be interesting to see how much they have progressed this season.

Mark Nicholson, Daniel Cooke, Trey Starnes

    Jr. Preps.

Back to Sam Pierce. For the record at UNC Impact, pitched to nine hitters instead of the designated six (because of injury to previous pitcher). Four Ks, 2GO,3FO and 0BB.Fastballs 85/89 except for three pitches, for gun purposes only ,@ 91,90 and 90. Sam does not throw gun 4-seamers in games but a consistant 2-seam fastball @84/88. Lets not do the 'wonderboy' rumor mill stuff I've seen attached to a large number of "heard of "pitchers.I've "heard of" a lot of good players particularly pitchers and that is not always an accurate barometer of REALITY.On a slightly different tear,Some of these guys would do well to know how to PITCH as well as what to PITCH for showcase purposes. Way too much said,I think I'll let the D1 recruiting directors, coaches and Pro scouts do the listening.
