Seems like there is a great crop of pitchers around the state this year. Heard Madison Bumgarner is bringing it. Also Thrailkill. Hearing lots this way about the big three in the CVAC--Rothlin, Gibbs, and Johnson. Do any of them have a loss this year? ERA's?

I saw a great pitcher today in McMichael's Alex Shelton. He started out throwing 87-88 mph in the first 3 innings, then dropped down to about 84-85 in the middle three, before coming back up to 87-88, topping out at 90 in the 7th. He struck out 15 and gave up only 3 hits. He's signed to go to UNC-G next year.

Jacob Moore from West Stokes was throwing for West in the same game. He consistently hit 84-85, topping out at 88, as a junior. Moore struck out 11 in the game.

I also think Thomas Newsome of West Stokes is very talented as well. He doesn't throw too hard but knows the beauty of the changeup.

    All three pitchers are lefties.

Trevor Mullins is 7-0 on the season for Ragsdale. He was hitting upper 80s all seven innings of 2 hit, 1 walk pitching last night against Asheboro. He has great command of his pitches which makes him very tough to hit.

    Going to ASU next year.

    Jared Bard

Jared Bard for Charlotte Christian is once again pitching very dominantly. He is 4-1 with a 1.32 ERA. When I have seen him, he was consistently at 87-88 and hit 90 three or four times. The biggest difference between him this year and last year is the number of walks he allows. He always keeps the ball down and throws strikes. This UNC bound pitcher leads the Knights (14-5) in strikeouts, wins, innings pitched, and saves. :ylsuper:

South's starters (Matt Andress, Matt Layman and Ryan Morris) have really gotten hot striking out 83 of the last 123 batters faced giving up 17 hits and 5 earned runs. These guys are always around the strike zone.

    Myers Park
Jordan Cudney is throwing the ball great right now. I can't believe he hasn't been picked up by anyone yet.

    Providence
David Mailman and Shane Small are both pitching very well.

    West Stanly

Seniors Kurt Benton and Tyler Almond from West Stanly are 4-year Varsity guys. They haven't had many looks, because West really hasn't had much exposure until this year which is a shame for these young men. Benton is 5-0 so far this year with a 1.40 ERA, and 45 strikeouts in 35 innings. Almond is 22-4 overall in his 4 years. He is 4-1 this year, also with a 1.40 ERA, and 50 strikeouts in 30 innings.
