All of the pitchers mentioned so far are certainly deserving of their praise, as we have been blessed in the western region and across the state with some great talent. I think any "top pitcher listing" would most definitely have to include Robby Bray from Independence. The kid is 33-3 in his high school varsity career, including conference tournaments and state playoffs. (15-0 as a sophomore, 12-2 as a junior, and is currently 6-1 so far this year). He has always been strong on the mound, but his leadership has been monumental this year. Indy, without a doubt lost some key talent last year, and Robbie has been impressive as he has stepped it up to lead his team very effectively. He doesn't throw as hard as some, but his fast ball is effective, with movement, and his curve can be just plain wicked. He has that bulldog mentality and perserverance that coaches love, and at the same time maintains a calm, level head in intense games that his teammates feed off, which results in victories. He and the Patriots' team have some tough games still ahead of them this year - but regardless of the results, he has had three great high school seasons. I am sure the next couple years of college are going to produce more of the same!

I didn't intend to bast at all, I think all of them are very effective at what they do, but you can't compare people just on positives, just trying to give the full story.

About Morris I believe the velocity I don't think there is any doubt that he throws hard I was just telling you what it was like to hit it.

ive also faced morris several times throughout my HS career and i can tell you he's a nightmare for left handed hitters, his arm angle is kind of 3/4, sidearm, he releases the ball from behind your back and its comin in there at 88-91 with tonnnns of movement running in on a left handed hitter. his breaking ball is very sharp and has alot of break to it, and has the ability to make your knees buckle. he's the nastiest pitcher i've faced in my career, and i've faced alotttt of pitching

hopefully, ill get a chance to square off against bumgarner this year as well, so i will be able to give u feedback on him.

also, i've never seen a better big game pitcher than jared bard of charlotte christian, if you put him in a big game situation, he'll straight shove. for example, he pitched a gem last year vs. south meck in the biggest game of the year and he shutout, let me say that again, SHUTOUT, the best team in the country, the Ohio Warhawks this summer in jupiter, he's pitched vs.some of the best competition this year in the southeast for christian this year and has shoved. he's upper 80's to low 90's and can locate his pitches anywhere he wants, he has a good breaking ball and changeup and is a very smart pitcher and keeps runners at bay. J. Bard is just a gamer and I would put him out there vs. any team in the country.

    theres my 2 cents worth:twocents:

    Ryan Morris and Jared Bard

agreed Dynasty07, Ryan Morris is not just dirty, he is absolutely filthy. He throws 89-91 and the ball seems to move a ton. He will be a great college pitcher and he definitely has the potential to take his pitching abiilty to the next level and absolutely dominate. I saw him last year in the Shelby tournament when he was a little wild and it cost him the game. I know that his control this year is definitely a lot better than last year and so is everything about him. Dynasty07 knows what he is talking about!!! Jared Bard from Charlotte Christian is definitely one of the premier pitchers in the state. He has hit 91 and is consistently around 90. He is a leader for his team and when the game is close, Bard puts his team on his back and carries them all on it. Pitchers around the area need to go and watch Morris and Bard pitch and try to do what they do because it always works!!! :ylsuper:

Since it is now known that you have faced some of the pitchers you mentioned, give us "the full story", enlighten us on your stats against them. And by the way i think it is Rothlin not Roughlin.

New member here...just a note....I haven't noticed anyone mentioning the big guy at Christian, Bryant Gaines, saw him pitch up in Shelby, and this guy is the real deal...seems like he's going under the radar and not a lot of talk, but heard he committed with UNC in August and hitting 91 and staying at 88-89 consistantly...heard he was a great kid and doesn't like lots of recognition...pretty impressive...can't wait to see what happens at the Hill with this one!!! Christian sounds like they have a great club!!

yeah, gaines is the real deal, he's been great all year for christian and has a 6-1 record i believe. hes usually upper 80's and touched 90 a couple times, he has a split finger and curve ball. he is the real deal and bard and gaines might be the best 1-2 punch in the state

    not much attention

You guys are right on the money with Gaines and Bard. Gaines is a stud...I haven't seen Bard pitch, but I saw his brother throw against Florida State up at UNC-Chapel Hill, and anybody with that bloodline has to be something special.
Just wanted to give some attention to a few guys in the small 1A/2A RRC. Kurt Benton is 5-0 this year for West Stanly with a 1.40 ERA. He's consistently in the low to mid-80's and knows how to pitch. Tyler Almond is a combined 22-4 during his four years at West Stanly (All-State last year), with a no-hitter against Forest Hills and a 1-unearned effort against NW Cabarrus this year (55 KO's in 32 innings...1.24 ERA). Matthew Burleson (West Stanly) gave Gaines his only loss earlier in the year...radar had him consistently between 86-88 during the CC match-up. For 1A South Stanly, Russel Brewer is 7-1 with his only loss coming at the hands of West Stanly. He pitched a perfect game earlier in the year. Also, one I almost forgot is Wil Huneycutt for West Stanly...3-0 on the year pitching behind Almond and Benton...hasn't given up an earned-run in his 3 starts and 2 relief appearances.

23109shelby06- im still waiting for those stats and I like your input, but I do not like how you are trying to say how these top pitchers in the state arent that great. All you have to do is look at their numbers. Madison Bumgarner- undefeated, .15 ERA, Trent Rothlin- undefeated ERA of about 1, Patrick Johnson- has one loss on the year and his team has lost 12 games-therefore i think he can pitch, Ryan Leach- outstanding pitcher, do not have stats on him this year but I saw him last year and he was amazing and Ben Gibbs- I do believe last year as a sophomore when i was in attendance, he beat TCR who at that time was 17th in the nation, oh yeah, he also went 12-2 last year and is currently 5-1 this year, and sorry, but I do not have much of Ryan Morris but from what I hear, this kid is the real deal. I mean give these guys some credit, they deserve it and I think most people on here will agree with me when I say these guys deserve the credit and hype that they get-they are all OUTSTANDING pitchers. By the way, if you know these guys so well and have faced them so many times, then how don't you know how to spell their name... Roughlin....Rothlin
