2013 bunch looks to be a down year in Triangle

With all due respect I do not believe the college guys have much interest in 2013 kids. May change later, but a remarkably poor group. Charlotte area has very strong 2013 players all over the area. Some already being actively recruited.
Maybe Raleigh kids will develop when playing full time.

The Tri-9 has plenty. Don't worry. These kids are still just sophomores with upperclassmen ahead of them in most places.

In the CPC conference North Davidson has two sophomores on varsity, Chase Mitchell and Drew Beaver. Mitchell was injured and has missed most of the conference season but has a great LH bat. Beaver is an excellent fielder and contact hitter. Davie has Nick Boswell who is a good hitter with great speed. Both Reagan and Reynolds are young teams with lots of 2013 players on varsity.

Sanderson has two young men that are starting as sophomores who in my opinion can both play somewhere at the next level. I really don't know the rosters of the other schools in the Cap 8 that well, but Leesville has a kid that started a number of games last year as a freshman who is probably gathering some attention.

    No offense intended.....

I reread my post and can see how it might hurt some feelings. My take is there are so few sophs because the upperclasses (juniors and seniors) seem to be dominant in the Triangle. I average 3 to 4 high school games a week and the sophs just have not been game-changers....:coffee:

    Good attempt at a save.

But the Tri-9 truly is dominated by the upperclassmen. Green Hope has at least 4 2013's throwing 80mph that haven't pitched on varsity yet. (Last time I checked, 80mph was pretty good for a sophomore) Scott McCraney (2/3 IP for Varsity), Daniel Weygandt, John Bradley, and Luca Scelsi.

But there are still underclassmen varsity players making an impact: Smith Prevost BA .341, OBA .390, 11 RBI, 2 2B in 13 games; Jonathon Newbold (was starting CF, currently injured, but pinch-runs, only 21 PA) BA .333, OBA .430, 15 for 17 SB; Stephen Pitarra (2014) starting SS, BA .350, OBA .420, Slug% .600, 5 2B in 10 games

Pitarra (2014) is the real deal.

Need to slightly correct expectus6 above, Newbold is off the injured list and played against Grace Christian yesterday going 2 for 2, hitting a 1 RBI triple at his first up to bat. He plays outfield and is an experienced Catcher however, with speed like his you need him in the OF.

Been watching this kid for for the last two years, and he is the "real deal" as well, consistently better player year after year.
