    Do your homework

Take a little bit of time & read about the schools you would like to speak with. When you get the opportunity to speak with the coaches, you should know some things abou the baseball program, possible openings for the next few years, what the school offers academically. Use this knowledge to your advantage. Coaches want kids that want to go to their school. They want a young man to come to school to stay- not transfer. Coaches are not going to invest their time and money on a player that may not be there next year.
Last year a parent told me that his son was sitting with the head coach from a college of choice; they were having a nice conversation until the coach asked "Why Big State U?" - The parent said the young man looked like a deer in the headlights, he froze.
For those players outside the top 20 studs in each state, the recruiting process is very frustrating. Coaches are not going to be standing in line to contact most players. There is a huge amount of talent in NC and quite often it is the small things that can make a difference to these coaches.
Keep in mind that you must be very proactive, study rosters of potential schools, learn about future openings in your position(s), how well did the team perform last year, contact coaches personally, visit these schools.
Spend your money on camps at the colleges you wish to attend. Take the opportunity to meet the coaches as early as possible & make sure they know your name. This is a captive audience. When your time comes to showcase your skills, make your self standout- Perform: Dont be COCKY, be prepared, well groomed. Look like a ball player! When you have an opportunity to speak with coaches be very polite, speak clearly and intelligently. No coach wants a mush mouth moron.
For those of you going through the process, keep the faith. This is something you and your family haved worked hard for. Keep asking questions of those that havew gone before you. There is no magic answer to all of this. Keep pluggin and good things will happen for you. Good Luck!

There are a lot of very good posters (bbrksfan is one of them) that have gone through the recruiting process. It's nice to have them give back the experiences they have learned.
