Not sure if we read the same article. Looked as if they had some good numbers and represented both sides of the story. I would have like to see more info on the numbers. I sure that some of the lesser facts are used. I would hated to is it more one sided. If you have the right numbers and facts maybe you could write an artilce for the paper and they can buy it. Looks to me like the solution really comes down to removing the education excuse. If all schools were equal in teaching as it shoul;d be the athletic problem would be more defined. As for the parents let their kid comment. As it is their call to move him then it is surely their call to let them speak.

    I read it.....

I just think by letting them talk to the press it opens up more debates, argurements, and judgements to a topic that is their own business. I'm sure they are just trying to view their point. Too many peoples minds are closed to this topic because could affect their child - competition for a postition, losing more games, etc. They don't about the facts or circumstances. Truth be known, if they weren't playing sports, no one would care........

I think everytime I read something like this someone is talking about playing time.To me High School baseball is starting to be like rec ball. You are so right when you say that High School is short stay. Players know if someone is playing in front of another player that should not be.On the other hand can you win with everyone on the team playing? I think so! If you are truely coaching to make kids better then you should be spending time on helping them.I know of a coach who goes out on weekends and spends time with players. As a player I would want to be at this school instead of sitting and not getting to play. If someone is showing this kind of interest in helping you then you know that you are going to get a chance. I also know that players transfer to have a chance to win a state title. What is wrong with that?

I may be from the old school of coaching and watching my kids play sports years ago but I could not believe some of the sick ways parents allow their kids to manipulate a school system to benefit themselves on a team. They lie and step over other good people and even provide false documents to get there? What are we teaching these kids to do? Is this the type of men we are raising to play pro sports? This isnt what kids really want i assure you. Its parents pushing them too hard. If parents dont teach honesty, respect and good work ethics in sports and in life then I feel bad for them. Hopefully this is only a handful and not too many others. How do caoches not know? Im just bothered after reading this.

One would have to ask what are poeple doing sometimes. We always hear it is their decision. I think that the future will hold more as far as what schools will start doing to address it. I will say it will be from the education side. What schools have what. I'm still amazed that we have schools that focus on this school is an arts school. this one is a international school. Still have to take the same for graduation. English, math, ss, science, ect. How does on focus. As far as these IB school. This program is to be a program thats mirrors college courses. If passed a stundent should be able to go in ahead, getting credit for some college work before hand. It was also my understanding that you start this program as a freshman. It is adminstrators that are bending things to make things fit. Need simple rules across the state. I like having to spend several thousand dollars to transfer to a school in hopes of getting scholarship money. Give me five and I will guarantee that I will send tapes, letters and make the phone calls to college coaches and say come look at him. And if you get it great if not I saved you a couple of thousand. Either way you win.

    transfers

I have been reading this post with interest. I think that it is so funny how people always have a interest or comment on what you, myself or any parent does with their child. the player is a child and it is our responsibility as a parent to do what we think is right for them. we don't always make the right decision but it is the decision that we as parents made or must make. If a parent make the decision to transfer their kid, let them. They are the ones who have to live with that decision. As long as it was done legally and the right way, do what you must. The main problem is that in this day and time, if you don't win the championship your season was a failure. Teams finish in second or in football, you win 8,9, or 10 games but not the championship, then it wasn't a successful season. If that isn't crazy but that what this society in the sports world has come too. Whether you transfer or stay at your school, enjoy playing because it does come to an end quicker than you think.

    Raise your own kids

and let other parents raise theirs. Make your own decisions about what is best for your kid and let other parents do the same. Everyone situation is different. There are people that get paid to make and enforce rules. Some people are so concerned with what other people are doing it amazes me. Frankly I dont have time to worry about what other parents are doing that is their job. Im too busy being a parent myself.

Coach 27 that is well put.I think most of the time there is a reason for a tranfer and it is not always the parent.I know when I was in school I was bused and I hated it.I would have gone to another school in a minute if I could have!

    from HS football last week

guess ya'll heard about this one from football, what a shame............Team Forced to Forfeit: Instead of cheering in the stands Friday night, dozens of South Meck students were in tears.

Parents, students and staff were upset their football team had to forfeit the entire season.

State High School Athletic officials notified Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools that one of the players wasn't eligible to play. The student's father moved to Wilmington, NC, to accept a job last year. The teen wanted to stay with is friends in Charlotte and he moved in with his grandparents.

State athletic officials say the teen had to live with a legal guardian to play sports even though his transfer was approved.

As a result, the district canceled the school's game against Central Cabarrus Friday night.

Since the teen played all year, every game will be counted as a loss.
South Meck High School students met at a south Charlotte church to voice their concerns
