This is a reminder to a few Highschool coaches that your players are going to follow your examples on the field. This weekend I witnessed a coach on third talking trash the whole game and after the closing, couldn't understand why her players were not showing any sportsmanship. duh!!! Remember, your players feed off of what you do and how you act!! Most only know what they are taught.

    Trash Talk

There is no place in sports for trash talk but many of the pro and college players do it on a regular basis. Guess they want to get in their opponents head. If U as a coach, do it, or allow it, U are doing a disservice to the game U coach and the kids that are supposed to learn from U.

Also, why we are on the coaching subject, if U coach HS and travel ball and make your decision to either play a girl or select her for the HS team because she plays for your travel team, U are again in the wrong profession. I have heard of several coaches basically black balling players that left their team to play for someone else. Let's all remember that it is for the girls not us. I certainly do not want anyone playing for me that does not want to be there and will not hold hard feelings if they leave. I assume most coaches feel that way. Maybe I am wrong. :twocents:

That's a shame Rodney, but I've seen this in action also. Most of us know that our goal is to teach, not dominate. Agree??

Just make sure you practice what you preach. It is easy to say one thing, but it is another to honor what you say! Some players move to another team because it is a better opportunity to be seen and will benefit them in the long run. It is nothing nothing personal in this case, we do the same thing in life with jobs.

couldn't agree more with ya. I have coached probably over 200 girls to date and still am friends and a mentor for each. if opportunity knocks, better answer that door. still get phone calls from girls I coached 8 years ago, and hope they keep in touch all the way through college and life.
