Stanlysoftball, I helped practice our Belle's all star team this year. I thought we played a team from Stanly county. The team I am thinking of won the state and finished second to Virginia in world series. I may be mistaken and if so I appologize.

On a seperate note we only have 8 MS softball games this year. We start practice last week of Feb. and play into May. I wish we could play 14 to 16 games like someone mentioned in an earlier post. My problem with rec is lack of practice. Some teams may not practice at all and when the others do they will have 3 coaches and only one thing going on at the time. Kids get bored real quick. Then the coaches want to work them to death come all stars. If the league would work together and teach the fundamentals all year then use all star time to fine tune and "mesh" the girls I think it would be much better for the development of players. As it is many in this area get a false sense of their level of play. I seem to be the odd one wanting to work and develop fundamentals. They think that is wasting time cause we are "good". This is a very relative "good" to say the least. My thing is not about how good you are but how good could the girls be if they really were really worked and taught the fundamentals of the game. I sure hope I can keep 9 come MS time so I can teach them how to really work and make themselves better players. I am having to remember to only worry about the things I can control. So far the girls I have worked with really like learning the proper way to do things, they like it even more when I take the time to explain why we do things a certain way. I have one girl playing TB now and she says they are teaching her a lot of the same things I have worked with her on. So maybe I am heading in the right direction. Sure wish I lived closer to some of these good TB organizations. Yall would get awful tired of me real quick. I love to ask questions. Just ask Cheeze105.

I have won the summer 10u championship 2 years consecutively.I have lost 2 players to this coach. This program in question is like the Dale Earnhardt of softball. You hate him winning all the time but respect his abilities.I get alot of crap myself in the rec league because went 16-2 all 2009.This program was the only one who beat us.Let me correct that 16-3.I seen a new young team come out this Summer and got beat up.Hadn't won A game and had no hope or spirit warming up against us.( I was actually asked about this in Dallas during basketball draft.)I seen this and changed my whole roster so that none of my top players would play, and it did piss off some of my girls until I explained.I wasn't giving them the game.my younger girls that were less experienced were going to have to win this game. The other team beat us 25-24.
And the look on those girls faces was priceless. That is what it was all about. That point and time these girls were able to experience what my girls have experienced time over.My feeling it takes A Special Coach to get 100% ability from his players.Regardless if with TB,Rec,MS,or HS.And recruiting at the rec level is in my opinion up to each and every player/parent.Most of the time it"s A parent that will move A kid.Programs have different ways of finding players, whether we feel it is right or wrong. It works for them, but also gives other Teams/Coaches to shoot for,and it is happening as showed these last couple of years.my girls are very proud to be a part
of Lady Nitro and that is how I want it!

So coach you would be willing to give up your two best pitchers to this team next year?
I know one team that this happened to and they can't compete anymore. The team is close to shutting down.

If you have a travel team, go ahead recruit, you have to to be able to play at that level. But if you are a rec coach and you recruit and ignore girls in your rec area so you can "win the championship." You are hurting softball development in the county.

Sorry to beat this dead horse, I just hate to see girls ignored or cut for the sake of a piece of paper and bragging rights.

    ???

I did here of a guy last yr in 2008 put together some 18U HS girls to play in the Dixie state. But it would be a 1 weekend TB type thing. But there is no REC league in Stanly Co that I know of. That may have happened this yr also but that would be news to those around here. If they played and won and did well maybe the team should stay together and play TB/showcase and get more ex-poser. It could have been a TB team under a Stanly Co Belles name and just entered the Dixie state just to have something that weekend.

Look at the Dixie website and go to NC's page. It congratulates South Stanly on their World Series runner-up finish. They have won the state for several years in a row in the Belle's division. They had a short stop that was a jam up ball player. She wore number 3. She pitched some too. Sure wish I could remember her name. I will try and see if some of the girls have a program I find out for you.

Oh and I will take all the advice, guidance, constructive critism, and help I can get. I just want my girls to be the best ball players and young women they can be.

As always there are 2 sides to every story. And you have only got 1 of them. There is always more than a he said, she said. The socalled rec has run this program for 12 years, and there have been no issues till this year. The rec is supported by the Middle school and will still be supported by them. Also I have always felt the best players should play no matter if they are travel ball or rec ball players. The coach last season carried 17 girls. In my opion this was way to many, and also as far as the make-up games go that was at the coaches dicession and not the programs. I hope you do not think I am coming across sounding ill, but you need to know the whole story before you go and start putting down a program, that untill this year had no major problems. Every organization has rules they must inforce and if you do not abid by them there are repercutions. You can not just take your ball and go home if you don't like it. That is not helping any program. I do hope you understand were I am coming from.
