ASA national qualifier in spartanburg SC

NC Rockers 16U were the top finishing North Carloina team by placing 4th in this 22 team tourney. Won four in a row sunday morning before losing to the SC Jets 4-2 in the loser's bracket semis. Only other teams left were the Jets and two teams from Georgia (Roswell Crush and Collins Hill?). Other notables, the Carolina Curve 16u and Triangle Lightning finished tied for 5th. Congrats Rockers:ylsuper:

18U Carolina Curve (Holt) finished 4th. Not bad for 1st tournament of the season and first time in 18U. All-Unionville pitcher Ashley Lentz (Piedmont)and All-Conference, All-State and All-Mecklenburg pitcher Brittany Stephens (Hickory Grove) did very well on the mound. Go Curve!:woot:

    Running up the score

Anyone who thinks that it is acceptable to continue to run up the score on a team after a game is decidedly in hand, is someone that is living vicariously through their child. This game has been around a long time, and it is the better coaches that pull their teams back in this situation. Remember, if the team is good enough to be in that situation, then the players must be good enough to understand all aspect of the game. This is not just about winning and losing or how many runs you can score; but lessons in life can be learned that will benefit these girls long after their playing days are over. I have said for years that girls fastpitch softball has not learned to govern itself the same way that baseball has. Not that it is acceptable, but if you were to continue bunt, steal, and advance on pass balls in a baseball game, consequenses will be paid. Just like the runners on second flashing the pitchers signs openly to the hitter, or the hitter taking a look back when the catcher is giving the signs, things would happen to stop it. But you know sportsmanship on the field can relate to respect off the field and isn't that what we want to teach our young people? Just my opinion.
