Just going to throw this out there... Middle Creek (2012 State Champs) returns a ton plus some exciting newcomers.

The Tri-9 is one of if not the best baseball conference in the state.

The favorites in the conference will be Holly Springs, Fuquay and Middle Creek.

Holly Springs will have the deepest pitching in the conference next season. They will win a lot of low scoring games. Past years the team has had trouble generating a lot run support, will that still be a problem next year.

Fuquay will be a very talented group but the team last year was too and underachieved. Will they play upto their talent this year ? If so they may win the conference.

Middle Creek has a hand full of starters returning from their state championship team of last year. They should have pitching options and will be a tough out.

    Tri-9 Prediction

    1. Green Hope - Most of their offense is back and they always seem to have a D-1 pitcher on their staff. The pitchers will be young, but very talented. Won the Tri-9 in 2012.
    2. Holly Springs - Best pitching staff. Two or three really good arms. State Champs in 2011. Finished tied for 5th in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    3. Fuquay-Varina - Two best players in the Tri-9. Should have very good offense. Pitching will be solid but not great. Finish 3rd in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    4. Middle Creek - Two good pitchers. Return 3 or 4 very solid hitters from 2012 State Champion team. Fininshed 2nd in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    5. Apex - D-1 arm at the top. Always scrappy. Finished 4th in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    6. Athens Drive - Return a lot of offense from last year but lost their best pitcher. Finished 8th in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    7. Lee County - Always solid, but as the smallest 4A school in the state it will be tough. Finished tied for 5th in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    8. Panther Creek - Lost most of their top players from last years team. Finished 7th in the Tri-9 in 2012.
    9. Cary - Lost their best player. We'll keep night in and night out, just don't have enough in the Tri-9. Finished 9th in the Tri-9 in 2012.

The Tri-9 won the 4A State Championship for the second year in a row in 2012. It was also the 5th time a Tri-9 team has won the title since 2000. Last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year for several teams in the conference, but all 5 playoff teams won in the first round of the playoffs and 3 teams made it to the 3rd round. Add in the fact that FV beat HS, MC beat FV, and MC won it all, only 2 teams outside of the conference eliminated Tri-9 teams from the playoffs. Green Hope and Middle Creek are the only two teams who have been to the playoffs every year since the playoffs expanded in 2007. As always it will be a highly competitive year in the Tri-9!

POY - Garrett Suggs of FVHS. Should win a lot of games on the mound and will be a stud at the plate. Committed to NCSU.
