Trivia Round #3 - Early Retirements!!!

    How to drive a coach crazy!!! There have been 2 times in the last 10 years that a team lost the State Championship, but scored more runs in the 3 games than the other team.

    In 1998 Athens Drive scored 26 runs, but lost to a team that scored 20 runs. Who did they loose to?

    Then more recently in 2001 Southern Durham scored 21 runs, but lost to a team that scored 13 runs. Who did they loose to?

    1998 State Champs

    I believe Northwest Guilford was the 1998 state champ.... Lee County in 2001.... Athens Drive and Lee both now in the Tri-7 Conference... Whew!

    PTBaseball - 1 for 2

    PT Baseball got question 1 correct. In 1998 Northwest Guilford won the first game against Athens Drive 11-7. In game 2 they lost to Athens 14-2. Then in game three they won the Championship 7-5.

    Southern Alamance won the opener against Franklin 12-2 in six innings. But Franklin then turned around and won games 2 and 3, 4-3 and 7-6 respectively. Can you say never quit:agreed:

    To this date that Franklin team is still my all time favorite HS team

    It seems that I remember a Providence team having done this...but my mind gets a little foggier as i get older
