Not the batters box either. Ha! Ha! If the ball hits the white foul line is the ball fair or foul.

They need to caulk around the plate for better hold !! Though caulking around the mound may be illegal !!

in front of or behind the base and where does it come to rest or first touches a player?

    1.41 Fair Territory
That part of the playing field within and including the foul lines from home
plate to the bottom of the home-run fence and perpendicularly upwards.
Home plate, the foul lines and poles are considered part of fair territory

A catch shall not be credited when:
9.2.1 A fielder catches a batted, pitched or thrown ball with anything other
than her hand(s) or properly worn glove/mitt.

9.2.7 "...until the ball is securely held by the hands or glove."

That is relative to a thrown ball such as a ball thrown to first base. Read the "EFFECT" part after that rule. 9.2.7 is not a modifier of 9.2.1 (There is no "or" following that paragraph.)

Has anyone ever seen this done (without the assitant coach screaming at or making the ump mad)?

The head coach can be restricted to the dugout for a player wearing jewelry. True or false?
