The CNC Baseball Club Muddogs are one of the fastest growing sports organizations in North Carolina for a reason.

We will have tryouts for 13u, 14u, and 15u this Sunday at 1:00 at Craven Stadium in Ramseur (home of the Muddogs Summer Collegiate Team). All coaches in these ages are paid coaches, so we don't do "Daddy Ball".

We will have tryouts for 16u, 17u, and 18u this Sunday at 3:00 at Craven Stadium in Ramseur.

IN THE EVENT OF RAIN OR COLD WEATHER, WE WILL WORK OUT AT OUR INDOOR FACILITY WHICH IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE STADIUM. We have 7 cages, 2 other hitting areas, speed & agility area, etc.

Go to our website to see the "Top 10 Reasons to be a Muddog".

Let us know if you are coming to tryouts. Email or call/text 336-302-6052

    Also, we have teams in 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u.

IF YOU HAVE A TEAM AND WANT TO TALK TO US ABOUT JOINING OUR PROGRAM, CONTACT US.

Tryouts for players during high school season

Here are my thoughts about tryouts during high school season.

    1. I am a high school varsity baseball coach and I don't have a problem with tryouts. In fact, I had one of my high school players at tryouts. Would I tell my players not to go to pitching or hitting lessons? No. Playing games is a different story-that is a no no during high school. I agree with that.
    2. We have other high school coaches in our program.
    3. Before we started, we let players know that if they had games that they didn't need to throw.
    4. Before pen sessions, I told the pitchers that if they thought their coaches would have a problem throwing a session of 10-15 pitches, that they didn't have to (why they would have a problem throwing a bullpen session, I don't know but wanted to give players the option).
    5. We want what is best for the player, while working with high school programs. We allow our local high school baseball and softball teams to practice at our indoor facility for free if the weather is bad, etc.
    6. All of our coordinators played professionally. I would imagine that we have a higher level of instruction than most if not all high schools.
    7. With that being said, I know that not all programs are like ours. If it is like ours, I don't have a problem with tryouts and practice during the season. If it is not like ours, then I would agree.

    That's just my opinion.

After reading your reply i do want to apologize for my comment .I think the weather and lack of practice time and with games starting on the monday after your tryouts it was just bad timing on my part to read your post.Although i would like to see more showcase tryouts with indoor facilities do the tryouts in early February rather than late which puts them after we have already started. My guys have thrown since Jan. 2nd and i believe a early Feb .workout-tryout with a showcase team could help my players and me also as that player could relay to me what the showcases coaches saw during the tryout session. I value the opinion of any coach that has been there and done that and is qualified to help any player improve. I would be crazy as a coach not to want my guys to do whatever they could to improve their game. I am really impressed with what you guys can offer a kid and thanks for putting the time and effort into what you do to make them better and to get the ones that can play at the next level the chance to play in front of so many more college coaches than we can at the high school level . I still believe that high school baseball is alive and well and is is the greatest show on dirt and there are so many more opportunities for kids to play college baseball than in years past thanks to showcase /legion /travel and high school .Good Luck with your teams this summer .. Coach Smith,
No problem at all. As I mentioned, I don't agree with how some organizations run things. I think many do a disservice to the game and to the player, and it's really frustrating. I have a perfect example that impacted my high school team. Two years ago I was getting ready to put a pitcher into a high school game, only to find out that he had pitched the day before in a tournament (this was during the high school regular season). To say I was upset is an understatement. So I can only speak on how our program runs things. We believe that high school, showcase, and legion should work together to make the player better and not impact the game.

We had some of your guys play with us last year and hope that they return for us in the summer. They did well for us and I'm sure they will for you as well. If you have any others or we can help or do anything for your program, please let us know. My number is 336-302-6052 and Matt's is 336-601-4531. Thanks! Reggie
