Umpire Robs H.R. Clearly Over To Most !!

Umpire Intimidation!!!!

 

I was not at the game, and I go along with what everyone says, RR was robbed. My concern is that we are bashing someone here. I don't think this is the place to do that, wheather it is a player, coach, fan, umpire or whoever. We are all human beings. Don't get me wrong. I do not condone umpires making bad calls. Also, I don't think they should be bashed in a public forum.

The ump has to be able to take it on the field or off. That is why he's out there to make the call. And this was truly a BAD call. Did it cost Piedmont the game NO. But truly a BAD call. Some people would not have let him get to his car after the game if they had not held them selves back if it had cost Piedmont the game. Umps and Refs can be a dangerous type of work. But someone has to do it and lets make sure the good ones are there to do the job and the bad ones stay home. I'm sure that this guy has gotten the message through this board and by word of mouth...........

 

Just think

Just as we say these girls that play are someone's daughter, this guy is probably someone Dad, husband, son, and in some cases grand father! He is human, just like all that frequent this board, every coach, parent, and or player should have to umpire an inning or so just to get an idea of the job most of these ladies ad gentlemen do. Now just like every professional there are quality workers, lazy workers, incompetent workers, and ones that just do not care but bashing will not change the results.
Great job by Becca, what a day! Nice job to all the Piedmont players, sounds like it was a slug fest.

 

I disagree. Discussing the bad call in a general way would be ok. But not to use his name. If he is bad, it needs to addressed privately not here. It is no different if it is a coach, a dad, or a player.

Someone can easily complain through the right channels with video if needed.

And that would be a sad commentary on our society...

I remember RR back when she was 10-12, and she could hit the cover off the ball then.
Whats important is that she's hitting the ball on the $$$$.

I in no way meant to criticize his call. Bad calls, and bad decisions by coaches and players, happen. Comes with the game. I was inquiring about the antics I have seen decribed on here. I was talking about umpiring and coaching for the game instead of for oneself or the notoriety it brings. I, to my knowledge, have never met this ump, so I will not make comments about the quality of his calls. We have all seen grandstanding, by officials, coaches, parents, and players. I just feel the 2 worst positions to grandstand from are officials and coaches. Although I will say as an umpire, if my partner makes a call, I'm gonna have to have irrefutable evidence to overturn it and even then we're gonna talk about it before I give my .02 worth.

 

I wonder too, if this is the guy they are referring to. Umps are going to make bad calls, but when an ump impacts the game because they want to stand out and attract attention, or have an effect on the game, then that is too much. It is not too much to ask to have them doing it for the right reasons, or even that they be somewhat skilled.
