The Latin umpire makes the call

Sic is a Latin word, originally sicut[1] meaning "thus", "so", or "just as that". In writing, it is placed within square brackets and usually italicized — [sic] — to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, punctuation, and/or other preceding quoted material has been reproduced verbatim from the quoted original and is not a transcription error.[2]

i will go on record to say that the large majority of the umpires we have do a great job. even though we someimes disagree, after the game is over i would bet that most coaches still have great repect for the men in blue

Anyone who has watched you umpire knows you're not perfect since you would always tell me which calls you "mighta' missed" when I coached 1B!

When Coach27 works on an umpire, I try to get to the concession stand as fast as I can for a box of popcorn. Fun to watch the drama unfold... LOL!! Just kidding, coach!

Probably could substitute coaches in this statement and it would be true as well. Only God knows why anyone would want to umpire in this day and age.

It was a shame that this happened. No one wants a game to be affected in that way. There were a lot of shoulda, woulda, coulda's in that game on both sides, but speaking as a SM supporter, I agree with Coach May...it's a bogus call.

...and I doubt anybody sitting in the grounds watching the game were paying attention to whether Dusty touched the bag or not. They were watching the ball leaving the yard. I salute the Titans for the way they never gave up. Many teams would have hung their heads getting behind 5-0...but they didn't.
There were some great plays made in the field by both teams. There were many scoring opportunities left on base for both teams and both teams played their hearts out. Kudos for the players on both sides...they all battled all night.

    guess you did huh.
it was fun. if there was ever a time i DID deserve to be thrown out of a game.... it was that one. not a pleasant conversation i had with the ump.
but as i said. most of the umps do a great job, and even after arguments etc. there is usually no hard feelings etc.

    West Forsyth vs. S. Meck

Funny thing about that particular umpire, I was coaching a Junior Legion game this past summer. We were playing Burlington. I said to my asst. coach that I knew the Plate Ump from somewhere, I got to talking to him and he said he was the umpire that called Dusty out. To make it real interesting, Dusty's brother was our catcher. Yes it did enter my mind about the old pitch out, but we didn't. I did tell him Dusty's brother was our catcher. Boy we got nothing but strikes the rest of the way.:hurray:
