UNC Dinner Attracts 7 of 9 Current MLB Players

    Last Saturday night, 460 supporters of UNC baseball turned out to join seven of the nine former Tar Heels who now play Major League Baseball at the program's First Pitch Dinner. Each MLB player was given an opportunity to speak to those in attendance about what it was like to debut in the majors, and the members of the 2012 UNC team were introduced to the crowd. Alex White (Rockies), Chris Iannetta (Angels), Tim Federowicz (Dodgers), Andrew Carignan (Athletics), Dustin Ackley (Mariners), Daniel Bard (Red Sox), and Andrew Miller (Red Sox) were the MLB players present.

    Now in its 4th year, this annual, preseason event has grown steadily each year. Proceeds of the dinner and accompanying auction of memorabilia go to support the UNC baseball program.
