Just saw where UNC-Wilmington had an opening for an assistant baseball coach. Anyone have any details?

    Aaron Smith left

If you are talking about their volunteer assistant coach Aaron Smith, he left to take a similar position at Central Florida.

Anyone being mentioned? I would assume it would be someone just starting out in coaching since it is a volunteer position. How about Chad Flack?

Josh Simmons from Surry is taking this position. Now Surry needs a head coach. Could be some possibilities there! If I was still coaching I'd jump at that opportunity.

Wow!! Simmons left Surry? I mean I can understand why, great opportunity to get to coach at UNCW but just bad timing with the fall semester about to start. I wonder if Tucker will take back over, at least until they find a replacement coach. I hope for the players sake they find someone suitable for the job and just not a quick fix.

Doesn't make much sense for a head coach to leave for a volunteer coaching job. He had a good program every year at Surry and a volunteer job seems to me like a big downgrade for him. I would thought he would be an assitant and not a volunteer.

Mr. Simmons left for good reason I can say that, but it has not been disclosed and only a few know the real reason. Believe me Josh did the best thing for him and the program. Things happen for a reason--wishing Josh well at UNCW.
