Great Post Prepster. My son has attended the Winter Pitcher Catcher Camp at UNC the past two years and will attend again this year. He has attended their Summer all skills camps and this past summer their Super Skills Camp (Showcase). I have worked camps at other D-1 schools over the years. I worked UNC camps when Coach Roberts was the Head Coach. In my opinion UNC runs as good a camp as anyone and better than most. He has also wanted to go back because they work them very hard and they get great instruction. He is a catcher so I can not speak as much about the pitching side. As far as the catching they are drilled on every aspect of the posistion from start to finish of the camp. The instruction is outstanding and the feedback is very good. There is no down time at all which for a player that is serious about learning and working is great. UNC always has some current and former players at the camps and they do a great job working and interacting with the kids. Coach Fox is around participating at all the summer camps. As far as the pitcher and catcher camp he is in and out. I love Coach Fox but I really could careless if he is around or not. As long as they have a quality posistion coach to work with my kid that is all I care about. I think going to camps is a great idea for kids. It exposes them to different techniques and instruction. It gives them an idea of what their strengths and weakness are and they get to see how they stack up to the other kids that attend. Jeff is on a first name basis with all the current coaches at UNC because he has attended for several years now. He feels at home whenever he is at UNC. Camp is not about showcaseing your skills even though you get that chance. It is about working at your posistion and getting some outstanding instruction. Its about taking back some things to work on. Its about getting some feedback on what you need to work on and what you do well. Coach Fox always give a speech at the end of each camp and it is outstanding. He talks about the type of young man you need to be in order to suceed in baseball as well as life. He talks about accountability and personal responsibility. It is money well spent.
