On the scoreboard it was 8-3 I believe. But I think it was 12-3 when it was all over. It was tied going into the 5th. Then they started making substitutions and became pretty obvious State had the deeper bench. There were quite a few errors that you won't see come opening day.

Look for UNC-W to do very well in their conference this year.

I was particularly impressed with UNC-W's centerfielder, Kelsey Eddinger, and NC State's catcher, Alyssa Allbritten, I believe .

    Good luck to both teams!!

I am not convinced that UNCW will do very well in their conference this year. They could, but it would be a major improvement in just 1 year. UNCW had only 3 wins in the conference last year and I do believe they will win more than that this year. The problem is that Hofstra, Delaware, James Madison and probably Drexel will be as good as they were last year and probably even better. If UNCW can somehow get to 500 in the conference that would be considered a tremendous gain over last year. I do know this...there are a lot of people pulling for the program including me.

With the talent that UNCW has give that bunch a yr for team & coach to gel. They'll be fine after that, & should be competitive this season. Had a good time Friday, & enjoyed seeing old friends. Next up Athens,Ga. Go Pack !!!!!!

You forgot to mention GA State

This should be the best year for CAA softball in league history. JMU, GA State and Hofstra return their top pitchers. The other teams will be playing for fourth place just like last season. Drexel is improving and Towson returns one of their two best pitchers. I'm guessing the Seahawks will finish 6th this season besting Delaware (not very talented) and G Mason (massive defections). Next season will be different story as the pitchers who have been #1's at hofstra, JMU and GSU since arriving as freshmen will be graduated.
