Does a kid have a chance to get in a D1 school from an unknown ranked high school?? It just appears that the well known high schools are seeing more kids playing in D1 schools...maybe the reason is more publicity----thoughts ???

    Not just based on HS

I don't think many kids go to D1 go strictly based on HS ball. If they are good, somebody convinces them to play TBall, that is where they get seen.

You have to remember, most college teams are playing at the very same time slot (4pm or 6pm)that most HS games are going on, they can't come to watch very often unless you play in the fall...

I think a kid could go from an unknown HS, but there is almost always more to it than that....

    HS

College coaches are only allowed to be away from campus for a few times a semester for recruting purposes so attending HS games to see one or two recruits is just not in the cards unless the kid is some superstar that that particular school feels confident they can sign.

If college coaches are going to attend a HS game, it will probably be a couple known powers or a tournament with several quality HS teams.

Agree most likely stage for a HS ball player to be seen by a number of college coaches is Travel ball tourneys. Dynamites, Rising Stars, Colorado, ASA Nationals would be some the top ones as well as Cardinal Classic and Bandits for most of local coaches.

This has been discussed here before and it always comes down to the same final answer. Chances of a college coach coming to a game of any kind and finding a new player are about like winning the lottery. They come to a tourney to look at someone they already know of. The job of getting known about is up to the player by applying to several different schools with a bio. of yourself or by one of their coaches contacting schoools for them. They will get some positive responses and a coach will come to a tourney in which they are going to look at a few players they already know of. If you are looking to play in the tourneys just to get seen by colleges you are wasting your time. Not saying it never happens but you have as good a chance at winning the lottery to pay for your college

CF's right. My DD had a very successful recruiting experience because she contacted the schools and coaches she was interested in, provided a summer tournament schedule, and then whenever possible, she provided the coaches the Cardinals game schedule for the tournament. She also worked hard in the classrooom so when it came time for any offers, there were no grade issues standing in the way.

It took a little time and effort, but it didn't cost a penny.
