The Davidson Copperheads of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League would like to invite you to our November clinic. This year, we will be covering hitting, pitching, catching, infield/outfield play and base running. Last years clinic was a huge success and this year’s camp is shaping up to be even better. This year’s camp will be held on November 17th from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM at Hopewell High School. Jeff Young, hitting instructor in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, will highlight this year’s clinic. Prior to joining the Diamondbacks staff last year, Young held the same position in the Cincinnati Reds organization for four previous seasons. He has been responsible for the mental and physical development of many professional hitters.

Joining Young this year will be many current and former professional players as well as college and high school coaches. Pro players will include:

Mike Daniel (OF) – Washington Nationals 7th Round Draft Pick
    *2007 South Atlantic League All-Star
*2006 New York Penn League All-Star
*Led Nationals organization in hits and doubles (2007)
David Mailman (OF) – Boston Red Sox 7th Round Draft Pick
Ryder Mathias (C) – LA Dodgers (former AAA)
Zach Ward (P) – Minnesota Twins 3rd Round Draft Pick
Ryan Morris (P) – Cleveland Indians 4th Round Draft Pick
David Darwin (P) – Detroit Tigers (former AAA)
Brad Matthews (IF) – Tampa Bay Devil Rays

*Keep checking www.copperheadsports.org for more staff to be added.

Cost of the camp will be $75.00 if you pre-register. It will be $85.00 if you sign up the day of camp. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and be giving time at the end of the day to get autographs from players. Space is limited. To sign-up, email Derek Shoe at [email protected] or call him at 704.305.3649.

I still can't believe all of the people involved this weekend in your event, coach. What a cast of All Stars!!! and quality young men as well.

It's worth the price just to be able to spend some time and talk to all of those guys. Every single one of them have a great story to tell.

and to have Jeff Young, a proven MLB hitting instructor, there to discuss the art of hitting...well, it can't get much better than that.

Honestly, I'll tell you something that I noticed. In years past an event that you are putting together would cost $250-$300. I can't believe it is only $75 to pre-register.

I hope everybody that is within driving distance take advantage of this terrific clinic. It's unusual to gather as many stars that you have for one event like this.

Thanks for the kind words. It takes a lot of help from a lot of different people to set up an event like this. I would like to thank some of the members here for aiding in this process. These are all great guys who are willing to share information that they have gathered through their many years of experience playing and/or coaching. When we keep the cost down the way we do, its tough to pay these guys what their time and information is worth, so they are doing us and the players a huge favor by giving up their Saturday to join us. I feel like these are all guys who appreciate what the game has done for them and are now wanting to help others experience the same thing. It should be a fun day as it always is when you get this many baseball guys together.

Parents and coaches, feel free to come out and join us.
