USA BASEBALL 16U CHAMPIONSHIP

    NC teams participating in the USA Baseball 16U Championships in Jupiter, Florida are the South Charlotte Panthers 2010; Charlotte Megastars 2010; Heat Showcase Baseball 2010 and North Wake Bulldogs.

    This is a 144 team event with 72 teams in Jupiter and 72 teams in Arizona.
    38 Individual players are selected from these events for final try outs for the USA Junior National Team.

    Megastar Elite 2010 vs Orlando Reds

    Megastars win 5-3

    Alex Baker gets the win giving up one earned run in five innings.
    Austin Majicotte gets the save.

    Johnathon Shelton gets a key hit to score what would prove to be the winning runs.

    All Saturday afternoon & evening games are RAINED OUT. REALLY rained out !! The storms don't fool around down here this time of year...

    Megastars Elite lose to FL Gardens Gators

    Megastars Elite lost 9-3 this morning.

    Walked 10 batters. Committed three errors. Tough combination.

    Byron Haag went 1/3 with a double and a rbi.
    Alex Baker went 1/3 with a double and a rbi as well.

    Play again today at 5...

    Megastar Elite 2010 vs Team Illinois

    Megastars win 2-1, win their pool in the first pool play grouping.

    Olin Little pitches complete game allowing one unearned run.

    Hitters:
    Johnathon Shelton 2/3 with a double
    Alex Baker 1/2 with a rbi
    Tyler Smith 1/2 with a rbi

    Seeded pool play starts tomorrow

    Megastars 2010 Questions

    Olin pitched very well ! He looks fully recovered from the knee injury.

    Dakota is playing with the Megastars 2010 Elite. He is working his way out of a bit of a slump, but he will be coming back strong soon. Too good to stay in a slump forever.

    Starting Pitcher: Jesse Brewer (10 Rock Hill) 5.33 IP; 9 H; 5 R; 7 K

    Leading Hitters: Rafael Gonzalez (10 Cypress Bay) 2-2 (2/2B; GWRBI); Andy Wilson (10 Myers Park) 2-4; Peter Hendel (11 Weddington) 2-2; Trey Laney (10 Christian) 1-1 (2B/2RBI).

    Down 1-5 in the bottom of the sixth SCP gets back 2 in the 6th and win it in the bottom of the seventh on a deep double by Gonzalez.

    Coach May---ya gotta check out that Gonzalez kid. There is not a better catcher at his age in the S.E. He throws guys out from his knees. No, wait a minute...from his knees he throws guys out by yards. And a stick to match his arm. He is a special, special player. One ya gotta check out.
