Isn't anybody gonna talk about the game at UNCG with the USA Team? It was really cool, lots of oppotunity to see all the greats close up. Jennie pitched but Kat, Lisa F., Monica all warmed up well in the bullpen area and we had a great view of it all. Bustos and I think Watley each hit one out. It started out close with no score for the first two innings, then USA scored in the third. They had a big inning in the 6th I think and scored about 8. It ended 13-0. What an awesome opportuity for he girls at UNCG. After the game, the USA team signed autographs. DD and her friend were able to get nine autographs. It was really cool and we had a great time.

I was most impressed by Lisa Fernandez, she pitched in the bullpen for three full innings during the game and worked her butt off. She was soaking wet, grunting and working every pitch. She was amazing, she threw what would have been an entire game and just wouldn't stop. Her work ethic was very impressive. I guess that's why she is still on the team at age 37.

The last picture is the greatest. I love Cat Osterman even if she is left handed. Im sure it was a great oppurtunity for the lady Spartans to play against the greatest softball team in the world.

well i guess with one more trip to the Olympics you would have to feel many of the older veterans would quit the touring circuit. I hate to seem the IOC take softball away from the Olympics but it doesnt even seem to be a competition anymore

Hard to get tired of something you love, plus the fame, and sometimes the fortune, especially when you are under 35 years old.

agreed,,,,if you loved something but "got tired of it", then it most likely was never love, but rather an amusement, distraction, or pastime. No matter what age, love always stands the test of time.

I agree its tough to "give up" something you love but with no major international competition to aim for the older players who have settled down to start a family have done the most they can do. That doesnt mean they quit playing but it allows the other younger girls coming out of college to experince the competition.
