at 26-5, the defending Div 1 champs are looking like a formidable foe once again, and especially the pitching. The past weekend they swept the Tn. Vols on the road, giving up only 1 run in 27 innings. Cocks ranked # 3.

This weekends' series vs. # 1 Vanderbilt in Columbia should be a classic.

    Cocks beat Vandy

the Gamecocks beat the 'Dores 2 games to 1. USC may be # 1 in polls this week, if not then UVa.

looked like it was 3 weekend sellouts at USC / Carolina Stadium; over 8000 fans at each game.

    another sweep

Cocks swept Auburn this past weekend in Columbia, but USC has several injuries they are dealing with, mostly OF'ers. In a major unfortunate circumstance, their top player CF Jackie Bradley, Jr. sustained a wrist injury last week diving for a fly ball and appears to be out for the season, due to surgery.

    unusual

    game tonight USC vs. Ark.
The Ark. coach substitutes in 4th inning in the middle of at-bat for a batter. The batter looked bad on a swing / 1st strike, the coach calls time, goes to dugout to call up a substitute to take the batter's existing count. The sub ends up striking out but I don't think you see this type of move very often. Score at the time was 1-0 in favor of Ark.
