I feel inclined to chime in since you are obviously talking about Watauga. Juniors can play on JV just don't break the games per week or year law. We have never used a junior or senior in the field for JV or played a player more than allowed by the state.

JV came into the year with 2 pitchers. Both got hurt. So where do you turn. You turn to 2 guys who rarely see action on varsity as juniors. They would rather pitch on JV then sit on varsity.

Plus like ballwatcher said its really a miracle that one is even out there. He is a young man with incredible charecter, heart and determination. It is an honor everyday to see him much less watch him pitch.

So daddypatz- I feel bad for Coach Stafford. I got to visit with him a few weeks ago when we went down there. He got put in a horrid situation. But still no one broke any rules.

Thanks for all the responses. I've learned a lot. It has been a tough year, and maybe in coming years, we can become more competitive.

So does the player actually have to bat or play defense to count toward the 23? I imagine just being there in uniform wouldn't count. What about as a pinch runner or courtesy runner? And isn't it more of a gentlemen's agreement on the rules anyway? Doesn't seem like anyone's around to enforce them.

My understanding is that the game counts towards their limit if they are listed on the line-up card as a starter or a sub. I don't know how it is enforced, but I remember calling a couple of JV's up for depth last year just in case that counted against their total regardless of whether or not they were actually used.
