Congratulations to John Merritt from Forbush High School on committing to the Bellmonte Abbey - they are getting a very good player, and I know he and his parents, Ed and Beverly are extremely proud, as well they should be. Congratulations JOHN!

On the last full day of contact before the "dead" period begins tomorrow, there are some more verbal commitments to announce. There may be a few more that come in this week (The colleges can't contact starting tomorrow, but if an offer has been made, the player may still call back and accept the offer). Written communication is always allowed.

    Here is today's announcements:

Aubrey Edens, RHP, DH Conley HS to Appalachian State
David Bunn, C, Wilson Hunt HS to Barton
Josh Cable, C, South Mecklenburg to Belmont-Abbey

Congratuations to all these guys. Appalachian State has built up a great recruiting class.

For most of the 50+ NC guys (I think we've got about 53 listed here), today is one of the most important days in their baseball career. It's NLI day.

Yesterday, most of the colleges/universities that these young men have verbally agreed to attend send out the "NLI: National Letter of Intent" to these young men. At various schools, showcase teams and homes around the state, they are going to sign the letters, committing to represent that school for the next few years.

I'd like to give a summarized list of them again. These are just the ones we know about from NC. If you've played ball long, you've made friends with players from other states and regions. There are many fine (and some great) ball players who haven't decided yet. There isn't a huge hurry to sign. Only about 16% of the NC players who will go on to college will actually sign this fall. That doesn't include the numbers from NAIA or JUCO colleges.

Here are the Names/Schools & Colleges, sorted by College/University

Aubrey Edens ,DH Conley ,RHP to Appalachian State

Great job NCBBallFan! Your summary above is not only helpful but it points out all the talent that is here in NC. I know that there are a few players out there still narrowing down their choices. :xyzthumbs

Zack Quate made it 3 players from Wakefield to commit early accepting an offer from App State. Zack is the 2nd big righty out of Wakefield to sign early. If they get any offense, the East may run through them this year.
