Congrats to Tom and his family. Elon is indeed very lucky as they have added a great competitor as well as great pitcher and person.

Some players you know better than others or have a longer relationship with....Tom Porter is one of those young men. There isn't anything that I don't love and admire about him. Tom is one of those players that deflects attention away from himself and directs it towards others. He goes about his pitching in a workman like attitude, but as cool as he is on the mound, he has a determination that is unequaled. He is such a smart pitcher...setting up hitters and than throwing a pitch that was not expected. For those that know Robert Woodard, Tom has the same makeup....he is a pitcher. I have been following Tom's success for many years and I am so happy to see his hard work rewarded with such a great offer to a fine school

Congratulations to Tom, Bruce and Karen. Elon is getting a great one...but I do have one request. Can Tom start his college experience early?...like January?

WOW !!!!! Elon just continues to reel in quality pitchers. I've only known the Porters for a short time but in that time I've learned that there is NOBODY more generous and caring of all HS baseball players and Tom is certainly a shining reflection of their love and generosity. Tom is the kind of pitcher that every coach likes. He goes about his business on the mound, he never gives in, he never shows emotion, and he gives everything he has to give his team a chance to win. What more could a coach ask of a pitcher? Congratulations to Tom, Bruce, and Karen, but even more so, congratulations to the coaches, players, and fans at Elon on adding such a quality young man and pitcher to their already potent staff. Good luck Tom, I'll be seein' ya.

What TREMENDOUS news!!! A terrific school and program gets a terrific player, person, student, and family...all rolled into one!

What a pitching staff Elon is developing!

Congratulations, Tom. It'll be a lot of fun watching you move to the next level.

Best of luck toTom Porter. He's got brains, a cool head, and a supportive family to go along with his athletic ability. He should go a long way on and off the field.

Congratulations to the Porters and to all the '05 families whose kids have signed. Best of luck to those of you who are still going through the process.

    UNCC Strikes again!

Freedom high school standout infielder/outfielder Alex Chapman (left) recently made a verbal commitment to the Charlotte 49ers.
He is a fine young man, and he comes from a great baseball family. Congrats to him and his family!

Congrats to Tom and the Porter family! This great opportunity could not have happened to a nicer and more caring bunch of people.

Good things happen to good people.
