I hope something good happens here. I can't imagine the stress on the kids and the parents.

Believe all the rumors you want. There are alot of people out there that want to see Veritas fail. Truth is the school is not closing and the financing part is progressing and moving forward. Teachers have left for various reasons and were given an opportunity to leave when the finances hit a snag, but the teachers opted to stay on. The teachers that left have been replaced. No credits have been lost. Campbell has no problem with Self attending Veritas. The NCAA clearinghouse has approved Veritas and the accreditation is in the process, but it takes three years to get the accreditation. Basketball, wrestling and golf are all playing and baseball season is still on go only if parents don't bail out. A great parent meeting was held Thursday night and positive things came out of it. SAT and ACT scores are up and first quarter grades were extremely positive.

I have heard that two professional fundraisers are working at no charge and one has brought in some funds from several Carolina Panthers. They just picked up a new sponsor that has developed a clothing line for them and they are working on a number of other projects. Doesn't sound like a school that is closing its doors.

No classes have been cancelled and everyone that is now working at the school is committed to finishing out the school year. How about stopping the rumors and encourage the guys that are at the school. Let the kids that are looking for excuses to leave pack their bags and go. But I can tell you there are parents of three of the teams that have no thought of leaving. Sounds like a baseball issue to me, not a school issue. Maybe the baseball parents need a little backbone.

Jealousy drives a lot of people to say stupid things and spread rumors that hurt a bunch of great boys. The boys are the ones that stand to get hurt by the rumors, not the parents.

Go get em Veritas. Shut the naysayers up.

    Oh

what date is the game between the Naysayers and Veritas scheduled. I want to be there that should be an intense battle. I heard the Naysayers have a new transfer in from Veritas. And I also heard that Veritas is loaded with former naysayers. Should be interesting.

"Go get em Veritas" "Shut the naysayers up."

Translation "Respect my decisions to do what I feel is best for my kid , shut up and dont say anything negative about it." "Allow me to tell you to grow a back bone and pack your bags and leave if your scared."

    Nice!

Well, despite all the back and forth, I'm happy for the kids and the families. Sometimes ventures like these get tested early on and it's a tough test. Most times when people/businesses get through that test many times they go on to greatness. I saw it happen with Caldwell Academy here in Greensboro. I've seen businesses face adversity early on and later thrive. Hopefully that is what happens here. I believe we'll all be better for it.

Deac, I know over 10 kids out there. I've been to all kinds of meetings before Veritas opened. I know many of the people that have started this venture. I've talked to so many people about this school, praising what they are trying to do, and I have never met a "naysayer". I just haven't met those jealous people. Everyone I have ever spoke with about the school has been positive, whether they have a kid there or not. How can anyone in their right mind pull against a kid?

This was what I gathered from the other thread on Veritas:

It's not so much pessimism, but more like, "we've seen this before" and rarely have they worked out. Many have to count on sponor money to keep going and how do you count on sponsor money?

After reading about the school and its mission, what I believe will set it apart from others is the standards of academics and their goal of shaping young people with good morals; and helping them spread their beliefs to higher education. I believe that is achievable and noble. I don't really care how succesful their sports programs are, but I am not naiive. I realize it must go hand in hand. If their intention was to attract the best athletes to give recognition to their school, then that would place them in the same boat as others. Kudos that their endeavors appear to be different.

I think the majority of people recognize that there is a need for a Veritas. I'm not aware of many HS programs that sets equal high standards with sports, education and be faith based. Who would want that to fail?

But there is no point in bashing families that decided they didn't want to take the chance to risk their kid's future. They don't get to have a "do over".
