It is a very nice complex. With just a little more thought and effort it could be much better. I've been to so many events there (some very large) where they had just the two little concession stands open serving from just one of their windows at each stand. You could literally miss a half a game waiting in line. Occasionally they do allow other concessions to operate.

From what I've been able to find out the concessions are given based on a bid. That may be fine but after all these years of substandard operation and all the many complaints it looks like they would have made some major changes. They would probably make more than enough profit to fund many of the programs that are in jeopardy of being shut down just by FIXING this one problem.

I wasn't aware they didn't allow tailgating. If it's a matter of cleanup cost maybe they could just charge a little extra for parking. That might even give someone a needed job while enhancing the enjoyment of the fans.

This part isn't the fault of Walnut Creek but I've noticed a severe lack of publicity for this event. I see lots of publicity for the boys' playoffs but not so for the girls'. Maybe we need a PR person? Maybe that should be a separate thread.

I agree with the need for a shuttle; and not just for handicapped. There are plenty of reasons people would benefit from a shuttle. And they could charge a buck or two to make it worth their time.

I overlooked one small matter the first time around in the 2A BRACKET when I looked back I noticed that that game times may change due to graduation at West Stokes. I hope they are kidding. I'm just wondering if this has every been an issue before. I don't see how you can ask 3 other teams to adjust to one teams special request. The one thing I see is that the other schools may end up spending a extra night in Raleigh and in these tough times the burden will fall back on these schools already strained bugets. Is the NCHSAA going to foot the bill or crap on the schools by making them adjust to West Stokes schedule.:helpsmilie:

How we forget they are student-athletics, with student being first! I for one am glad they are letting the girls walk for their graduation, they deserve it. They have worked hard for 12-years just like any other student. I appreciate the state making concessions for these girls!

Maybe then west stokes can foot the bill for the other teams. yes they all are students first. however you can't tell me they didn't know before the season started that this may happen. i just feel they should have to choose walk or play ball. once again the squeaky wheel gets the grease. but maybe if the rain holds off friday things will work out for the best for all involved at least thats what i'm hoping for.

They probably aren't "letting" them walk, they're probably "making" them walk. Other schools have had the same conflict in the past and easily resolved the issue. A forward thinking administration could make it something special. Have the student body turn out for a few minutes with a special ceremony on Friday, give the softball seniors their diplomas and send the team off. Those senior girls have worked hard to get where they are and deserve the support. Instead, assuming they win on Friday, they will be at a disadvantage trying to travel to and fro to play on Saturday.
