What are your predictions for this game? At what level do you think Breitenstein will be for this game and how effective will he be? Does Watauga have any chance against ACR this time around after our poor showing last time...and who to look out for during this game?

    your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
I keep hearing about how Watauga didn't play well the last time they came to Reynolds and yes I agree they didn't play well however I have to be honest, the Rockets didn't play well either. Let's look at it.....

    - ACR had 4 turnovers (which is nearly 1/4 of ALL turnovers they have had for the year, as they have only had 17 TOTAL this year).

    - Offensively we were 1-9 (11%) with 2 INT's passing the ball.

    - Offensively we only scored 2 TD's in 4 opportunities in the Red Zone.

    - We converted only 25% of our 3rd down attempts.

    - Our defense gave up twice as many yards per rush 2.3, as they had all year (1.2).

Now this may all sound a little nick picking, but honestly it shows there is alot of room for improvement for our team and they expect to improve on that performance. I can tell you that they came out of that game saying they didn't play well either.

    Lots of O....

    14-10, ACR
    End of 1st

Watauga's ten points off two ACR turnovers. Rockets running with ease around the leftside of their line.

    HALFTIME

Rockets moving the ball with relative ease, but the Pioneers are hangin in there. A 40+ yard Chiarlanzio to Baine Martin strike brought Watauga to within 5 a couple minutes before the half. If the Rockets put it on the turf a couple more times or if the Pioneer D can stiffen, this could come down to the wire.

    WHS balanced attack

Glad to hear Watauga is mixing it up a bit more. Aside from the one-handed grab by Harris last week, the passing game was non-existent. Two TDs thus far tonight, both passing. Not many would have predicted that.

    Breitenstein had 184 yds.
Watauga had sizable advantage in time of possession. The defense was exceptional in the second half.

Very Unofficial Game Recap with Help from Radio Guys

    ACR 23
    WHS 24

Eric Breitenstein becomes the first 100-yard rusher against Reynolds this year, amassing 184 yards oon 34 carries. His 55-yard touchdown run with 5:52 remaining held up as the game winner, giving the Pioneers a 24-23 advantage.

Watauga capitalized on two turnovers to get 10 early points on a 10-yard TD pass from Beeson to Wallace and a 27-yard Kostis field goal. But Watauga still trailed 21-10 nearing the end of the second quarter when Chiarlanzio found Baine Martin for a 52-yard scoring strike. At the half the score was 21-16.

A defensive struggle ensued, and each team traded safeties in the second half, making the score 23-18 when Breitenstein's long run put the Pioneers in front.

The Rockets failed to field a pooch kick and the Pioneers recovered; they had a chance to extend the lead to 8 with a TD and xtra point, but fumbled the snap on 4th and 1 from the Rocket 3. Reynolds drove inside the Pioneer 20 after taking over on downs after the fumble, but missed the potential game-winning field goal (32 yards) as the clock ticked under 30 seconds.

Watauga took a knee and it was over. It's the 3rd straight one-point playoff win for Watauga, and it's the team's furthest playoff run since 1978, when it won the program's lone state title. Watauga was 0-7 all-time against Reynolds before tonight.

The Pioneers did have a 2-to-1 advantage in time of possession against the Rockets, and cranked out 313 yards on 63 snaps, so this was no fluke.

Congratulations to ACR on another fine season, and good luck to WHS next week.
