For underclassman at N Meck, Whitt by far is the most dominate pitcher. He did not get much playing time last spring, but had an excellent summer & Fall for the Copperhead TPX 16u travel team. Whitt allowed only 1 run against the Impact 16/17 team in a showcase this fall. Great fastball & change. Blake Ewart is another fine pitcher coming off rehab this fall. His arm is constantly improving, and showed a lot of power at the plate this fall, with several HR at the final Charleston toun. Blake pitched several strong outings at showcases late this fall. He can also play 3rd & catch. Excellent blocking skills, good fielder. He will be one to watch.
Aaron Plummer and Cody Bough(sp) are freshman that will be the future infield at N. Meck. Both are excellent fielders with strong bats. Aaron had a great fall season playing up with the Copperheads 16u. Future impact players at North Meck: Whitt, Ewart, Brown, Fox, Shoemaker, Plummer, Bough, Heath, young Cavasini. I would like to see Whitt play the outfield as well, and not just pitch.
As far as Hopewell, watch out for Adam Waters 08. "No fear" kind of player. Great glove, and awesome power. Pitched well for the Copperhead travel team this fall. He is a hard worker and all business. He also plays a strong 3rd base.

    I cant wait for Spring................

:nopity: ...here it comes folks. NC (The Master) has already started

and I agree with Indy. They are not going to surprise anybody this year. Robbie Bray is a stud....but it's tough to compete against a staff of 5 college committed pitchers on one HS team along with McAuley, Parks and Pou. Oh and did I mention Profitt..the starting catcher since his freshman year and will have to compete to keep his position...

SOUTH CALDWELL WILL ALSO BE STRONG AT THE PLATE AS WELL WITH BRAD HARDEE, WHO WAS OFFENSIVE MVP 2004 AS A SOPHOMORE(2006 GRAD), CASEY JUSTICE(2005) AND MADISON AS WELL. THESE GUYS ARE POWER HITTERS AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PITCH AROUND THEM. SOUTH CALDWELL WILL BE STRONG FOR NEXT 3 YEARS.

    06/07/08 possibilities

In central NC the players I've been watching come from a smaller school who seem to dominate their competition, and when the players are in summer ball it's the same.East Montgomery High's JV team in 2004 got through the season like 20-2......hitting, pitching, base running, they've been playing together forever.Preasure? They really thrive during preasure situations.
    Individual players to watch include
07 grad Garrett Pemberton 6'4" around 220 lbs, closing pitcher,1st base and bangs the ball a ton.
08 grad Ryan Houser 5'11" around 170 lbs. and a natural born athelete, played Varsity football QB as a freshman this year, pitches, catches, ss, has a good head on the field, 7.2 60yd dash and a quick release of the ball when fielded, plays baseball well into December, showcase player.
07 grad Michael Bennett 5'9" around 170 pitcher,2nd base vacuum cleaner, hits with power and can turn a fast double play, very good foot speed.
07 grad Wil Lambert 6' around 172 lbs. starting pitcher and utility player, home run hitter, throws 80+, 4 pitch man, knows all positions well,a thinker, head is always in the game, "Great Work Ethic" plays year round, showcase player.
07 grad Travis McBride 5'10" around 180 catcher don't try to run on this kid he'll gun you 9 out of 10 times, great hitting power throws right hits left, spent last 1/2 of his freshman season playing for varsity, intense.

In the 2005 season these players will have wonderful support just as they did last year from they're teammates, also with a great crop of fundamentally sound middle schoolers who are coming up it should be an undefeated season coming up.
If I've missed someone please forgive me.

    Sounds..........

as if the crop of NC high School players continues to be outstanding and consistent BUT when talking about their contributions to teams that have great shots at a state/conference titles we are forgetting about the other variables, factors, & intangibles like the ONE or SEVERAL other quality hs and perhaps "average" HS players in which do not have the proverbial tools to play at the high collegiate level if that! THEY will be the "other" members of the "team" in which will determine alllllllllllllllllllllllllll the conf and state champions as is the case every spring! KUDOS to the grassroot players not 06's not 07's BUT 0 for ever (not in the hitting sense of the game) but those who excel greatly in seemingly minor or other trivial, YET tremendously important, aspects of the game in which rarely get noticed except by the discernable baseball eye!!!!!!!!!!!!... ALSO WHAT ABOUT LUCK?????????? Feel free moderators to splice this in to a thread of its own I THINK it has some potential for intersting discussion? IMHO

The Providence JV team went 16-2-1 last season from what I saw they were extremely talented. Their Junior class could solidify a strong group of Seniors and make Providence a serious competetor.

I am very familiar with the 07 08 classes since my youngest son played AAU across the state against several of them over the years. In my opinion these two classes will be the strongest we have seen in quite some time. If you look at the AAU Nationals over the last few years you will find that NC was the strongest state there. My 07 guys played on a team that finished 9th and there were four other NC teams in the top 12 in the Nation. My 08 guys finished 4th and there were four teams that year from NC in the final 12. Of course these guys are spread out over the state but there is no doubt that baseball in NC is only getting stronger. In fact our 07 and 08 players are the most talented we have ever had at South Granville. This is the case at several schools that I follow. Rocky Mount has an 08 RHP Jim Leggett who will make an impact for them this year. Justin Jackson at TC an 07 that is lights out started last year as a Freshman. Steele Myers a slick fielding MIF at Durham Jordan 08 with a cannon for an arm. Sean Madden 07 started on Varsity last year 6-4 lanky and very very good player Durham Jordan. Look out for North Lenoir in the near future. They have some of the best young players in the state along with an 07 Brandon Sutton a LHP that is going to make some noise this year Plus an 08 John Alphine a big RHP that can flat out play. Brice Grady another 08 that is tough as nails with loads of talent. Another 08 to watch out for is Zack Ferrell who just transferred to Lee County. This is a big strong kid that can flat out throw the rock. There are a ton of 08 07 kids that I could go on and on about. Fact is there are alot of young players out there that could make a big impact this year and definitely next year. They are ahead of schedule so to speak probaly because most of them have been focusing on just baseball for quite some time and have played at the highest level possible for their age. If you want to hear about some more 07 - 08's let me know.
