I'm wondering how much affect the umpires had on the games this year.

The constant calling of illegal pitches had a negative effect on Arizona's pitching in my opinion. I could live with that somewhat if the illegal pitch calls had been called on both teams. Number 24 for UCLA pitched consistently outside of the pitching lane and it was never called. What she did definitely gave her an advantage. The Arizona pitcher was called for it a couple of times. One of those times put a runner in scoring position.

Of course, Arizona killed themselves in the first game. But 9 runs in the second game could have been enough if they had been allowed to pitch without being tormented by the officials.

If you have a chance to see the game again watch the UCLA pitcher and you'll wonder why they let her get away with it.
