I bet Coach Bagwell and Danny Hignight would have their fields ready to play today if there was a game

...and a coach that doesn't mind working hard on their field...some won't lift their finger...unless they are getting paid

    That 's a fact!!!!!11

Some out there would n t know anything about that unfortunately!!!! Most coaches do a fairly decent effort in keeping up their fields many do nothing tho! Obviosuly the most successful programs anywhere are the ones in which the coaches put endless hours of work on their fields! PAY OR NOT! The administration basically affords them anything they need materials, maintenance wise while encouraging and promoting and seeing to the funding of future projects expenditures AND in addition allows them the leeway for it ALLLL... The programs that have no success u can seee it literally by the condition their field is in as well as the OTHER asthetics of the facility!!

It is difficult to keep a field in quality shape without money. Some school systems will not allow coches the money just to do simple things like overseeding, etc... So we scrounge and do what we can. Our field has improved here right much over the years, but it is nowhere near what i think it needs to be. Coaches in this situation must be careful about parental help, I have found that some want specific things in return, such as playinf favors, etc... for their kids. So I have found that I do what I can and am very wary of the help that is offered. Sadly, it has come to that though.

That's too bad that you have run into this. We have a great group of parents every year that donate supplies, time, and effort to keep up the facility. In the last 5 years I have never heard a one ask for any special consideration. With our coach it wouldn;t do them any good anyway. LOL.

BTW, went out to pull the infield tarp off this morning to take some infield and it had too much ice and snow on it. Had to turn on the undergound heaters to get it melted and dried off. Maybe by this afternoon.

I'm sure there are more, but two really nice fields I have seen belong to Watauga and Glenn High School in Kernersville. Pete Hardee evidently has support somewhere as it shows in Watauga's field and how well it stands up to weather, which is very good. Glenn's field is probably more a function of the parents as anything. I remember the field standing in water before a game one summer and the coach and parents did a fantastic job of making the field playable in a very short period of time. Organization is probably the key and these two programs have a first class group of people supporting them.
