You gotta love baseball in Union County. A heck of a lot of talent in such a small zipcode. Can't wait until CHS plays Weddington and Marvin Ridge. All these boys played each other and with one another in Little League and now they are playing for their schools.
Coach Poole and Coach Mennett played a part in my boy's baseball learning. One with Weddington and one with On-Deck. They definitely know how to teach ball. And now Coach little at Cuthbertson has provided something we could never have imagined at Cuthbertson. Good players and good coaches makes for a win-win season!

    Weddington Vs AK

While our squad came up on the short end of a 2-0 ball game, some bright spots we evident. Schellhorn will be a big factor for the Weddington this season on the mound. Holding AK to 2 runs (1 Earned)was big. Knight came out swinging the bat strong again going 2-3. Against McCue, Andrew's first at bat was a double deep in the corner in Right. Some other balls were hit hard, but right at players.

We'll see if we can tighten our defense down a little more and get the balance of our line up hitting against Butler Thursday @6:30 at home.

Jeremy S. definitely has some tools. is he a junior or a senior and does anyone think he has D-1 potential. I certainly do. (and I do not know the young man ; only saw him play last summer. and was impressed. Is he still a position player as well?

    Warriors Win

Congrats on a great 1-0 win today Warriors. It was good to see two great pitchers dueling and matching each other pitch for pitch. Both teams should have very successful seasons.

Weddington goes through the non-conference schedule 4-3. A couple misplayed balls are the difference in a 6-1 start. I like where this team is right now. They are deep with pitching. Seven different pitchers have seen productive time on the bump. The two freshmen have hit against some of the pitching HS baseball has to offer. The defense is playing well together, without some of the misplays that cost them earlier in the season. This is a solid TEAM, from the freshmen to the seniors.

Looking forward to starting conference play this Tuesday at Parkwood.

    Weddington vs Parkwood

    Weddington wins against Parkwood 8-1.

    WP- W- Jordan Newsome
    LP - PW- Wilson Conley

Andrew Knight continues to light up the offensive stat sheet while playing outstanding at the plate (3-4 with a dbl). This junior catcher is the friend a pitcher can have! Not sure exactly how many have been successful at stealing this year (maybe 5), but I know it's a very small %. The pitchers have a lot of confidence in being able to just pitch and not worrying about a mistake getting to the back stop. I've watched all of the games, except for the Cuthbertson game, I only recall 1 ball getting past him. A real good player, but even a better person. My personal opinion is that he is the MVP of this team.

Weddington plays Parkwood again this Friday at Weddington.
