Not the time or place to argue with you Coach Evans. His actions showed me all I needed to know without speaking to him. We will have differing opinions until I get to know the kid. The game misses you, get back soon.

Nothing personal Squeeze, and I hope some day you will take the opportunity to speak with Dylan. While I would not have liked him taking off his shirt on the mound (and I was told that was addressed) I do take offense to the mentioning of his prayer. Good luck to you and yours this season.

I don't think it's the prayer itself that was the problem but rather the timing. I believe (emphasis on believe), that I read above where he was waiting until the batter stepped into the box to begin his prayer. If this is true (emphasis on 'if'), I would have stepped out of the box, walked down the line, got some water, talked to my coach, asked mom for a candy bar, scratched my butt, sniffed my finger, practiced my cartwheels, tightened my laces, helped senior citizens cross the street, play chicken with bikers, thrown tomatoes at cars from the bushes, played hide and go seek...

Point is: The prayer is acceptable. We had a boy that prayed behind pitcher's mound before every inning started. Nobody has ever had an issue with that. Our boy always had his prayer started before the throw down was flipped back into the infield, and ended within 10 seconds of play being ready to be resumed. From what I hear, this young man waited until the batter was in the box. IF this is true, I would've been rather upset, as well.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. I was not at the game but I do know from being his HS coach for the past 3 years that he would have payed before the batter stepped in the box, anyway let's let it go, enough said. The only thing is that we refrain from making statements until we can make an accurate statement. Trust me, if you ever have the chance to talk to this young man you will understand what I am referring to.
