    Piedmont 6 West Rowan 2

    Timmy King squared off against Wade Moore this afternoon. Both pitched well but Timmy really shined. Wade left after four trailing 4-0. Timmy took a one hitter into the 7th (the one hit was a bunt) but gave up a hit to Moore in the 7th. West Rowan scored two in the 7th on a couple of defensive mis-cues and a curveball that bounced over the catchers head. King wound up the night with 1 BB ( might have been two BB but I only remember the one) and 16 K's. That should squash any rumors of Timmy having arm trouble. Rob Lyerly had a two run blast. Piedmont plays at home again tomorrow afternoon against Monroe.

    Piedmont vs. West Rowan ->SHOWDOWN!

    Piedmont High School, ranked #10 by Impact Baseball played host to West Rowan High School, ranked #6 by Impact Baseball. Piedmont really came out to play! Timmy King pitched for Piedmont and was absolutely stellar. He walked 1 batter, (7th inning) gave up 1 earned run (7th inning) and struck out 16 batters. West Rowan was left dumbfounded by this pitching dominanace. King also went 2-3 with 2 doubles and an rbi. Rob Lyerly comes through again! With a 2 run BOMB he made the score 4-0 and set Piedmont rollling. Looks like another good year for the Panthers, with an awesome effort and perfomance tonight- way to go!

    Final score

    Piedmont 6
    West Rowan 2

    West Stanly- 8
    Kannapolis-1

    West Stanly's Tyler Almond looked great on the mound, actually 2 relievers for WS also threw well. WS should have a great season, they swing the sticks well and play great defense. WS is definitely deserving of their Sweet 16 ranking and Top 10 in the state 2A polls.

    Hunt-3

    Sophmore Jim Leggett picks up the win,Junior Chad Womble picks up the save,but the highlight of the game was sophmore William Barringer hitting a grand slam in his second ever varsity at-bat. Both of these teams are young and should get much better as the season goes along.
